The aroma is of yeast, wheat, and clove. The flavor is like an inverse exponential curve. It starts out sweet and malty and perfectly progress to a sour banana wheat finish; gradual, analog, and continuous. The palate is nice and rich. Overall, this is good. jbak (110), Torrington, Connecticut, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 3, 2004 Pours a very cloudy/dirty deep tan/brown color with a huge off white head that dissipates a bit slowly. Sweet malt and wheat in the nose with hints of clover. Kind of a sour banana bite up front matched with a large malty taste. A bit too much carbonation takes away from a nice medium palate. Overall, a nice treat. vwsteggie (684), Paxton, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 2, 2004 Has a cloudy orange/brown color with a thick off-white head and heavy carbonation. Smell is of alcohol and malts. Taste is yeasty/malty and finishes with a alcohol fizz. Overall an interesting combination, just the thing on a cold day... Brian (144), Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2004 Decent stuff, with the alcohol coming through just a bit. Very nice pour and head (for a weisse!) with a taste that isn't too harsh (for a bock!). A fruity banana delight. ukoolaid (572), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 10, 2004 Bottle. Extremely cloudy ornagish brown with head of large soapy bubbles. Malt wheat aroma with some fruity (raison) tones. Excellent sweet malt wheat taste. Smooth and delicous. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 9, 2004 Probably the best looking wheat beer I've seen. Huge ruby, orange, mudddy brown, garnet tones. They're all there. Huge amount of sediment. Lovely large beige head. Aroma of balsamic vinegar meets sweet milk chocolate. Immediately a vinegary sour/sweet flavor jumps in. Quite sharp. Soon there is a much more mellow wheat-banana flavor. Flavor is a slow downhill with the finish being fairly unimpressive. Spritzy, high amount of carbonation. Fairly weak on the palate, but still pretty tasty. Like a simple man's aventinus. Why is this so watery??? Thanks for sendin this one over Oakes. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 24, 2003 Updated: May 10, 2004Re-rate: Chewy, toffee, caramel aroma with dark fruit, strong dark malt, dates, figs and mild spiciness. Opaque dark borwn with decent tan head that recedes to ring. Dates, figs, sweet cooked soy sauce, fruity, malty. Burnt soy finish. Light refreshing body. Enjoyed with MartinT and Rastacouere. Bottle.
Original rating (6-4-8-4-14=3.6): Aroma is a bit mild with malt, wheat, fruitiness and yeast. Very cloudy medium brown body with dense head that is tan with white around the edges. A jumble of fruit flavours with apple, pear, banana and plum notes. Some mild yeast spiciness with an underlying malt base. Overall there is a slight sour impression. Fizzy mouthfeel is strangely pleasing. Bottle. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 19, 2003 Bottle. This beer had a large sized ivory frothy head during both pours. The body was carbonated and cloudy with a brown hue. The nose was lightly malty, spicy and some notes of clove. The flavor was that of caramel with a slight tingly sensation in the mouthfeel as well as creamy and smooth. This was a light-medium bodied beer with sparse lacing. I truly enjoyed this beer and it went very nicely with supper.
