Commercial Description:
Weisse Bock is an increasingly popular style that is strong and very tasty – with all of the fruity, spicy flavors one expects from a wheat beer, and more – but never too heavy on the palate. This rich, dark, and enthralling Bock is refreshing and drinks so easily that one would never suspect that it weighs in at 7.2% a.b.v. If you appreciate Aventinus, try Der Weisse Bock.

Bottle, courtesy Retorp. Brownish hue, reddish highlights, thick watery lacing. Creamy nose, caramel and smooth biscuit, cereal and chocolate. Flavor has lots of creamy chocolate with slight spice and dry grainy finish, some vanilla and caramel too. Yummy, complex, full-bodied and I want to try it again.

Bottle: Poured a dark syrupy brown with an off white head. Aroma is a roasted malt. Taste is sweet full of roasted and caramel malt drawn together with the sticky fruit. Very solid bock!

Pours a cloudy doppelbock color with a biege haed and lots of action. Molasses and roasted malt smell with some florals. Molasses and doppelbock taste with multi florals and a blended wheat grain flavor. Medium bodied, buttery/resiny feel, with a crisp and comfortable carbonation. A doppelbock with a wheat background/finsih similar to Aventis.

Muddled haze with small but thick off-white head and nice lacing. Yeasty, some caramelized banana. Smooth, thick, sticky mouthfeel. Loads of yeast character and banana esters. Thick meaty, sweet, and ok.

Cloudy dark ruby beer - foamy, lasting head - lovely aroma, with a decent dose of tart, nearly sour cherry skins, with some raisin and date, wheaty tang, and clove phenols - earthy and rich - full, yet creamy carbonation in the mouth - not as tart as the aroma suggests, but it is still fairly dry, with rustic, earthy wheat - cherry skin and prunes - the yeast’s phenols arrive late, mostly clove and banana, reminding you of the style a bit more - some caramel late as well - tart and relatively complex - quite nice.
