Head was not lasting, faded quickly, very dark reddish brown color with a slightly overpowering alcohol aftertaste, but not too harsh. Lots of the good sediment that must be present for the real wheat experience. Nice spicy notes, dark wheat malts with roasted flavors very abundant. Slight dark fruit adds to the complexity, with a slightly sharp finish, but overall a good beer, I would try it again, just maybe get a fresher bottle. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 21, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle at Quinns. Very dark muddy brown with a good white head. Aroma of chocolate malt with a delicate farmy sourness and some excellent toffee notes. A really good smell. Slightly estery flavour. Great chocolate and a faint bitterness that balances it out really well. Lovely hit of wheat leading to a bittersweet finish. Thick and chewy yet very clean mouthfeel. A great example of the style and where the hell is the alcohol? Drinks well below its strength. It feels more like 5 than 7.2 Jolly good stuff. fonefan (11878), VestJylland, Denmark
