Commercial Description:
Weisse Bock is an increasingly popular style that is strong and very tasty – with all of the fruity, spicy flavors one expects from a wheat beer, and more – but never too heavy on the palate. This rich, dark, and enthralling Bock is refreshing and drinks so easily that one would never suspect that it weighs in at 7.2% a.b.v. If you appreciate Aventinus, try Der Weisse Bock.

A Mes rate: Bottle at Quinns.
Very dark muddy brown with a good white head. Aroma of chocolate malt with a delicate farmy sourness and some excellent toffee notes. A really good smell. Slightly estery flavour. Great chocolate and a faint bitterness that balances it out really well. Lovely hit of wheat leading to a bittersweet finish. Thick and chewy yet very clean mouthfeel. A great example of the style and where the hell is the alcohol? Drinks well below its strength. It feels more like 5 than 7.2 Jolly good stuff.

Dark chocolate aftertaste. Unfiltered. It has a mild, a mild aftertaste not too bad of a beer. Carmel flavoring like many boch’s have.

Smells like a Weisse, looks & tastes like a bock. Spicy & yeasty smell. Very obviously naturally carbonated, just a little head that diminishes into nothing. The color is gorgeous dark ruy up to the light. It has a ice it of sediment. The wife thinks it tastes like bacon, that’s cool I guess. I think it tastes slightly creamy, roasty & robust. Hints of cloying sweetness with bits of raisns and nuts. Very easy to drink and enjoy.

Bottled, labeled as 8.5% ABV. Poured deep chocolatey-brown with just a short cap of off-white head sticking around. The aroma was very sweet, with toasty chocolate, molasses, and candied dark fruits represented.. drier dusty yeast gave a little banana impression as it warmed up.. just a bit too sweet for me. The flavor was also toasty with sweeter chocolate and molasses at the base.. wheat and dark fruity tartness gracefully prickled the sides of the mouth.. warm, sweet, and toasty finish. Heavier-bodied with low, but adequate carbonation on the palate.. the building warmth in the belly after the drink was quite rewarding. Excellent beer!

(bottled, at the brewery tap) Cloudy, murky brown colour with a huge and persistent beige foamy head. Sweet and yeasty, moderately toasted and wheaty malty nose with dried fruits and bananas. Sweet flavour with a tinge of sourness, medium bodied with a soft and pleasant carbonation. Slightly toasted malty taste with a moderate wheat- and fruit-character (dried prunes, light banana); slightly sweet and faint bitter-tart finish with light spicy phenols (cloves). Not bad but also not overly exciting (09.02.08).

Draught at the Gate. 2005 keg. Dark amber/brown color with a thin creamy head. Aroma of spiced banana bread, with some overripe apple. Fruity, grapey flavors pervade off-sweet bread/cake malts, with an underlying green apple tartness and a mild clovey/spicy finish. Medium bodied with a fine carbonation. Smooth and very drinkable, with no discernable alcohol. Nice.

bottled. Pours dark with little to no head. Absolutely delicious, some malts chox & fruits. Be careful as with all weizbocks cause the alcohol is well camou’d.
