Where the Aventinus has strong banana notes in its nose, this beer has a distinct grape bubblegum note. The palate is absolutely gorgeous, however, with its sweet creamy thickness. The burst of esthers that characterises the style fades more quickly than I might wish, but the finish is nothing to complain about. Overall, a very tasty beer. iambeer (255), Ontario, Canada

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 23, 2002 Enjoyed this. Big frothy head that faded quickly. Nice aroma, with malted milk, lemon, and butter brickle wafting up. Started too cold (as I often do), but once it warmed got good malts with the expected lemony hints from the weiss. Noticeable spiciness akin to peppermint candy. Nicely creamy, really liked the way I could feel it coating my tongue and the back of my mouth after a swallow. Does need more malts, but the ones it has make for a very enjoyable brew. bonvivant (164), Smithfield, Virginia, USA

Excellent...Pours hazy dark reddish brown with a soft, sturdy khaki head. Rich aroma of chocolate, raisins, port and molasses - yum! Mouthfeel very soft, smooth, elegant. Flavor is just rich mounds of chocolate, port, raisins and molasses. Also features a lovely wheaty malt backbone and notes of red wine. I was quite blown away by the aroma, flavor and texture of this. My bottle says 8.5% ABV. Very mild, warming alcohol burn. Excellent. Best weizen bock I’ve had to date. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 15, 2007 Pours a dark clouded ruby that is almost opaque with a massive tan head. Nose is sweet and pungent with an almost wooded malt on there it seems. Flavor is thick and sweet with an almost berry like quality to it. Feel is almost a bit too tingly on the mouth from a sharp layer of carbonation. Definitely very drinkable. Worth trying. Goes down smooth and is very well made. I could go for these over and over again.
