Tap, at the brewpub, July 2005. Deep gold, good white head and moderate condition. Solid sweet malt and grain with a touch of honey in the nose, big sweet maltiness in the mouth with a gentle yeasty bitternessand a gentle but sustained hop note in the finish.

(50cl bottle) Clear straw body with small white head. Aroma is medium sweet, spicy/grassy, some cereal/bread. Taste is medium sweet, grassy, some lemon, light cereal. Solid bitterness. Light-medium body, nice crispness though a but watery.

From the tap, served very cold in a pint glass. Poured a clear bright dull yellowish golden with a foamy white that slowly settled into a thin bubbly lacing. Aromas of dusty grains and sweet malts, a bit fruity with spicy floral hops, I believe the aroma could have better if it wasn’t served so cold. Good moderate carbonation and a crisp, dryish, smooth medium bodied mouthfeel. Had a really clean taste at first, so I let it warm a bit, grainy and sweet sugary pale malts, a soft green grape fruitiness, a nice spiciness from the hops, soft, but lingering in their bitterness, and a dry grainy, spicy, dry grassy finish, cleansing in the palate. I like the beers from Mahr’s to begin with and I was surprised to see this on tap, I just wish it was served more at the proper temperature.

Bottled 5-22-06. Poured with a light minimal head and very little lacing. Moderately cloudy golden beer with a stringent pungent bitter hoppy aftertaste which bites the tastebuds. This beer does not have any distinctive characteristics that would cause me to drink a second. Non-carbonated hop water with no character. Poor.

(On tap) Clear, pilsener golden with a small, creamy, white head. Lovely floral nose. Medium body, sweetish malty with a distinctly hoppy finish. 071106

Bottle pours a golden color with a soapy white head. Aroma is a light hoppiness, some light fruit notes, and a small amount of malts. Taste is light, carbonated, kind of doughy, but pleasant. Palate is light and somewhat watery with a tinge of bitterness on the backend. Overall, It’s a decent Dortmunder/helles. I had my father try this and he said it tasted like Fire brewer Strohs used to taste like. When they were still brewing it in Detroit. Decent.

Draught @ Mahrs, Bamberg. Malty sweetness starts with a little grassy hoppiness becoming apparent. Slightly fizzy with a light but firm body.A slight dissapointment after the ’U’ but on reflection fairly decent.

Draught. Clear pale golden colour. Big, stable, frothy white head. The flavour is very clean, has a bit of malt, not much bitterness. Easily drinkable, but not too exciting.
