Great hop flavor as well. For those that really like a traditional style lager they should appreciate this one. Supposedly rated one of the Top 50 Beers by Maxim, or one of those other men’s magazines. While not a stellar source of beer reviews it definately caught my eye when I saw that. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 10, 2007 Poured an attractive hazy copper with a fluffy off white head that disappears quickly. Interesting spicy, bready sweet aroma. Flavor is pretty complex, with a bread like flavor dominating, with some spice and herb burried in the middle. A subtle smokey flavor shows through also. Clean, dry finish. Quite interesting! bhensonb (4392), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 22, 2007 500 ml bottle bottled 7007 (must be rather fresh). Using the MJ tasting glass. Floral hop aroma over bready malt notes. Clear orange amber color with an off-white head that flattened quickly. Thin in body, moderate in carbonation. The flavor is that light bready kind of thing with some lager type hop. The perfume does come out. Drier than not, and really crisp and clean. It’s really good. The finish has no bad points, just what has gone before. Floral perfume aromas persist to the end. Some bitter builds nicely in the mouth. Just excellent. Better than many light ales. wabeer (2), USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 11, 2007 500ml / 16.9oz Bottle with cryptic date code 1807
Center poured into 20oz Nonic (yeah yeah, it’s not a German glass...)
Aroma:
prevalent complex bready malt sharply punctuated by intensely perfumed bitter floral hop aromas, prominent citrus (orange?) notes, light notes of yeast
Appearance:
Pours slightly cloudy, interesting orangey / light copper color, rich head with decent retention that dissipates completely after a short time
Flavor:
Biscuity malt and noble hop flavors interplay expertly on the palate in this deliciously complex Kellerbier, light toasted malt and mineral notes with some vegetal / herby flavors in the background, very nice hop bitterness in the finish, which is fairly dry.
Mouthfeel:
Crisp lager profile, with a subtle creaminess showing a hint of more depth. Thirst quenching and refreshing like many other lagers, but with a lot more interesting malt profile, this example was high in carbonation due to the bottle conditioning; unbunged beers are typically lowwe carbonation. Carbonation dissipated rather quickly near the end of the glass, compared.
Overall:
Overall a wonderfully put together beer, This is a fine example of the Ungespundet style, highly drinkable and great for summer or any labor which requires a thirst quenching lager. Pleasant bitterness and good malt depth combined with excellent drinkability leaves one wanting another.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 9, 2007 From a 500 ml bottle this poured a rich and cloudy gold color with a medium white head, a light lacing. Nose of light malts with bitter hops. Medium mouthfeel, but feels good on tongue. Flavors are well balanced, and slightly sweet. Medium bitter finish. Good solid drinkable beer. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2007 Brilliant gold/bronze with a fluffy white head. Aroma of rustic, earthy, grainy, biscuity malt with some noble hops and hints of airy yeast. Same flavors and a drier, lightly hoppy and lightly yeast finish. Medium body has some weight without being heavy, a light viscosity with enough carbonation to balance, excellent mouthfeel. Easy to drink. Underrated at 3.23. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 8, 2007 My first of this style of beer. Pours a balanced cloudy gold with minimal head. The nose gives off a deep earthy yeast. On the mouth it is mildly acidic and heavily yeasty. It stays on your tongue for quite some time. As it warms it seems to be a bit sweeter on the tongue. Mouthfeel is thick from the body of the brew. Easily drinkable.
