Aroma is big malts with a touch of hops in there. Flavor is malts to the extreme with a touch of hops and a nice dark fruit aftertaste. Very easy to drink and quite enjoyable on a warm night. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 17, 2006 I believe this is the beer I had. The label looks the same, and the un of ungespundet makes me lean toward the ’unfiltered lager’ on the brickskellers menu.
Anywas, the beer was a very good lager. I’m unfamiliar with the zwicjel/keller/landbier difference from a lager/helles, will have to research. But the beer was good, almost helles in taste and enjoyment. Aroma mile of wheat and hops, sppearence was quite nice.
I’m rating this on my lager-esque scale and think this was outstanding. EithCubes (2146), Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 9, 2006 Bottle. Hazy orange with a brief eggshell head. Aroma is funky, cellary, with a big whiff of malt. Taste is bitter with a light astringency, extremely dry. Light bandaids, and that’s a first for me. Smooth. Man, this is so dry, sucking water from the air after finishing with my body. Dust, yeast, visible particles. A little rubbery. Well, it certainly increases the thirst. Has a cleansing feel. diabel (1372), Aarschot, Belgium
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 1, 2006 At the brewery tap in an earthenware mug. Almost no head. Muddy, amber to orange body. Aroma of flowers and perfume. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter initial flavour. Lightly sweet, moderately bitter finish. The flavour is not too intense, but it is very well balanced and a nice beer. Reminds me of a sweet lambic due to the total flatness of this beer. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark

A light copper colored brew. Had a very unfiltered flavor to this brew. Liked the flavors and the contrast of sweet flavors and the malts used. This was a good example o the German wheat beer. Lots of banana aromas.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 28, 2006 Hazy and pale orange in appearance, a tapioca-type head bubbles on the suface for a bit, then dwindles down...nice...
Aroma: sharp, a bit, then soft, lightly citric, a touch sour, but, again, nice.
Taste: hoppy kick in this, fullish body, solid mouthfeel, yeasty, yummy. Clean. Citric taste. A bit herbal. Zesty, and easy to drink. Quenchable, indeed.
I like this. Very tossable, yet with plenty of taste to marvel at, though not amazing, by any means. I tend not to pick up expensive imported bottled beers, except for reasons of examination, the old trial and error, but if you want to try a zwickel, you won’t err with this example.
