Aroma: sharp, a bit, then soft, lightly citric, a touch sour, but, again, nice.
Taste: hoppy kick in this, fullish body, solid mouthfeel, yeasty, yummy. Clean. Citric taste. A bit herbal. Zesty, and easy to drink. Quenchable, indeed.
I like this. Very tossable, yet with plenty of taste to marvel at, though not amazing, by any means. I tend not to pick up expensive imported bottled beers, except for reasons of examination, the old trial and error, but if you want to try a zwickel, you won’t err with this example.

Served in a beer stein, so I couldn’t really judge the appearance, apart from it having a long lasting white head. Clean malt flavor, perfectly balanced hops, a little rustic woodiness. Medium body, medium low carbonation, designed for drinking in mass quantities. I only wish I could get lagers like this in the US. Nothing fancy, but I could drink this all night. eaglefan538 (2403), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2006 My first venture into the land of kellerbiers, this one wasn’t disappointing, but it wasn’t impressive either. Poured with a very nice and creamy thick head that sustained itself quite well and laced all the way down. The aroma was malty and slightly wild (not sure how to describe, similar to what I remember from the biere de garde I had). The flavor was unique, with a strong malty and notable hops presence/balance as the highlight. However, each sip finished somewhat dry / bitter and closed with a pleasant honey aftertaste. This is German and it claims to follow the purity laws... but if I didn’t know any better, I would have accused them of pouring some honey in after brewing. A nice beer, but not something I’d go out of my way for here in the States (certainly would have again in Germany). acb1971 (1), neulussheim, Germany does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jun 2, 2006 One of the best. No fancy words to describe it. I just think this is a super beer with a great taste from start to finish. One can read the other reviews for how it looks, etc. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | May 23, 2006 Clear amber body with a foamy white head. Yeasty aroma, some smoke, floral hops. Watery texture in a medium body. Flavor is rather humdrum and lacking character. Dry and some tartness but all unremarkable. jimhilt (1692), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
