Commercial Description:
Mahr’s Brau Ungespundet Hefetrub It pours with a big, creamy, long-lasting, head; has a golden-bronze color; a wonderfully fresh, perfumy; hop aroma; a remarkably smooth, almost oily, malty, palate; very fresh flavours; and a spritzy finish. It is beautifully balanced, but leans to the dry side. This is a delicious, appetising beer and a true taste of Germany’s fast-vanishing artisanal tradition.

Bottle at Novare Res. Pours a pretty light amber. Aroma is bready, biscuity, and a little sweet. Flavor is a sting of dingy hops and wet dogs...really weird. Almost cardboardy flavor. Not my favorite Mahr’s beer.

Bottle from the Bon accord, Glasgow. Aroma is bitter and yeasty, some bready sliughtly grainy notes. Taste is similar, pale malt is clear but the bitter yeast character dominates. Decent unfiltered german lager.

Aroma gives dough and floural hops. Taste is similar a bit thin maybe, a bit unrefined maybe also wheat comin in at times. A different and unusual beer, something worth trying but maybe not for me.

Hazy golden color. Sweetish malt aroma. Good malt flavor, well above the average, quite sweet, some nice hopping, a bit breadish. Very good.

Bottle pours cloudy copper with a luxuriant white virgorous head. Aroma is yeast, slightly floral, and carmel. Mouthfeel is dry and somewhat thick. Taste is floral, yeast, and slightly sweet, slight hops, and slowly lingers on with a nice floral note. Very smooth, nice crisp finish.

I notice the suspended sediment right away and it is more concentrated in the center of the glass with an orange hue and dissipates to the sides and the bottom where the color becomes yellow. Clean, doughy aroma. More dough, in fact that’s really tasty. It isn’t for a while that i get the floral hop finish. Ends a bit metallic.

[Bottle bought in Bamberg.] Labelled with a Kellerbier sign on the original label. Lightbrown hazy look with good head. Some yeasted, citric aroma added with malty notes. Flavor more sour and dry with bread, but more citric as usually.

(bottle) pours a hazy orange-golden colour with a firm off-white head. aroma of grainy pale malts, herbal hops and light caramel. fresh, honeyed grainy pale malts dominate the flavour, with a herbal-hoppy bitter finish. medium body and carbonation, very clean.
