Commercial Description:
Mahr’s Brau Ungespundet Hefetrub It pours with a big, creamy, long-lasting, head; has a golden-bronze color; a wonderfully fresh, perfumy; hop aroma; a remarkably smooth, almost oily, malty, palate; very fresh flavours; and a spritzy finish. It is beautifully balanced, but leans to the dry side. This is a delicious, appetising beer and a true taste of Germany’s fast-vanishing artisanal tradition.

Pours hazy bright golden with a mostly receding off-white head. Aroma of cookie, bready malt, light citrus, herbal hops. Taste is tart lager yeast, bready malt, bitter noble hops. Medium bodied, crisp mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Enjoyable unfiltered lager.

Bottledfrom Whole Foods/Bowery. Pours a cloudy brownish amber. Aroma is faintly caramel, buttery is a great description. Nice little hop bite at the back half.

Great looking pour. Amber with a large frothy off-white head. Yeasty, caramel, and grassy hop aroma. Very buttery caramel malt flavor for this style. The grassy hop bite is there but its secondary to the malts. Nice full bitter aftertaste. Average body. Nice beer.

Aroma is a bit grassy. Flavor’s just slightly tart with a bit of diacetyl. Some bitter hops on the finish.

(draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Amber pour with a fluffy white head. Aroma is very malty with an earthy and buttery note as well. Rather strong. Flavor is smooth and malty with a good sweetness and a little spice near the end. Finishes clean and sweet.

Bottle. Does Zwickel mean butter? Well, in this case it does. Theres a nice maltiness once you get past the butter. The body is smooth and the carbonation is at a minimum.

Bottle(7/7) from BevMo online. Light amber color upon pouring. Earthy malt aroma. A little spicy. Nice English type hop aroma. Creamy mouthfeel. Malty with a little kick of hop bitterness. Reminds me of a good bitter.
