Commercial Description:
Mahr’s Brau Ungespundet Hefetrub It pours with a big, creamy, long-lasting, head; has a golden-bronze color; a wonderfully fresh, perfumy; hop aroma; a remarkably smooth, almost oily, malty, palate; very fresh flavours; and a spritzy finish. It is beautifully balanced, but leans to the dry side. This is a delicious, appetising beer and a true taste of Germany’s fast-vanishing artisanal tradition.

A little heavy on the burnt malt, medium bitterness, definitely a full-bodied lager. And also not a typical German pilsener. This one gets better as you drink it. Not my favorite but not bad.

first beer in this style, I wasn’t too impressed. it had much more complexity than a typical lager, but tasted somewhat like a newcastle. kind of buttery and malty with a very small head.

Golden, hazy wheat with a huge, nice head. The aroma has notes of fruit and more hops than the average weiss. The flavour is fruity with a lot of banana, light sweetness and hops, that give a good bitterness. Atypical from the average weiss, but nice.... 1586

Bottle. Hazy amber colour. Yeasty aroma. Light bitter flavour. Notes of yeast and malt, caramel. Very refreshing and very good altogether.

Cloudy copper body, lots of lacing. Aroma of noble hob, floral and slightly sweet, honey and sweetcorn, freshly mowed grass. After a while, vanilla and caramel emerge. Taste starts out bone-dry, very grassy and hoppy, then some vanilla sweetness in the middle, finishes clean and hoppy. Not too exciting, pretty good though.

Bottle. Light, half finger white head. Smells of cereals and citrus. Body is a golden bronze color, almost looks like a Belgium beer. Upon tasting, discovered that this is a very well balanced lager. I didn’t noticed the smokey flavor some reviewers described. Clear, crisp, dry finish.
