Commercial Description:
Mahr’s Brau Ungespundet Hefetrub It pours with a big, creamy, long-lasting, head; has a golden-bronze color; a wonderfully fresh, perfumy; hop aroma; a remarkably smooth, almost oily, malty, palate; very fresh flavours; and a spritzy finish. It is beautifully balanced, but leans to the dry side. This is a delicious, appetising beer and a true taste of Germany’s fast-vanishing artisanal tradition.

From a half-liter bottle. This beer poured a a hazy orange amber golden color with a generous white head and leaves nice lacing. Aroma and taste is of grain and hay with just a touch of hops. The drinkability is extremely high on this one. I really enjoyed it.

Deep golden color. Very malty backbone. A touch of apricots. Straight forward and decent Kellerbier

Orange-gold with a white head. Grainy bread nose, earth, orange. Oily body with faintly bitter body, spritely fruit, juicy. Short, lightly hoppy finish. Nothing remarkable, but easily enjoyable.

24th May 2008. Orangey coloured beer. Pronounced sour caraway malt and a touch of bitter orange. But overall not a bitter or sour beer! A bit different!

Bottled 500ml. -at Old Nickel, Amsterdam. Hazy apricot coloured, small white head, malty caramel nose. A bit too sweet malty, slight grassy and fruity with notes of caramel and hops. Moderate dry bitter finish. Drinkable but somehow boring.

bottle from Bierzwerg. Hazy brownish-golden colour with a mid-sized off-white head. Malty-hoppy nose with "old cellar"-aroma. Malty, nutty with a touch of yeast.

gravity cask @ redlight redlight. Slightly tart malty aroma, apples. Pours golden amber with a big fluffy white head. Solid malty flavor with loads of grassy hops, caramelly and earthy, very drinkable.

Cask at Redlight Redlight in Orlando. Cloudy orange color. Slightly tart, fruity aroma with a bit of grassy hops. Flavor is very similar with grassy hops dominating the finish. Very good.

Gravity cask at Redlight Redlight. Pours cloudy, glowing orange-amber in hue. A fluffy head of ivory colored foam settles to a thin layer with a pronounced edge, leaving sticky, splotchy rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is lightly sweet and doughy, resembling that of undercooked, honey glazed bread. Notes of sweet apple marmalade and caramel come through as well. Flavors are initially sweet and caramely, again very bready and yeasty, seemlingly like uncooked dough. The hop profile is significantly more prominent, floral and peppery, lending some nice balance. Apple seeds lend a little woody astringency that lingers on the finish. Medium bodied and creamy up front, that hop finish intensifies with building, lively carbonation. Solid session brew, but it’s not that exciting.
