(bottle) Clear golden colour with a short and non-persistent foamy white head. Slightly sweet and grainy malty aroma with toasted elements and herbal hops. Bittersweet flavour, light to medium body, smooth carbonated mouthfeel. Malty, slightly bready taste with a soft early hoppy bitterness; dry and moderately bitter, light hoppy finish. Drinkable, decent and somewhat strange.

Poured a straw clear color, some chill haze, nice initial head, although the retention wasn’t great. Lacing was ok. Aroma of grassy Saaz hops, some honey. Flavor followed suit, but with a crisp cleanness that was enjoyable. Mouthfeel was crisp, hoppy in the finish, a clean lager type feel.

The aroma is light and has grassy and floral hops, corn malt, and a touch of yeast. The appearance is pale gold with a nice foamy head. The flavor is bitter sweet with plenty of hops and light sweet malts. The palate is thin but just right for a Pilsner. A very good example of a Pilsner if that’s your thing.

This beer was on tap at The Bier Stein and I was excited to try it. I took a big whiff of my pint: vinegar. I had never ever had this experience there, and I thought maybe my taste was gone crazy. It is a tribute to this establishment that without hesitation they took my beer and poured me another at no charge. Of course, it was immediately necessary to buy a bottle (which they conveniently had in the fridge) and rate it at home. Mahrs Pilsner pours a hazy yellow with a thick white foamy head which hangs around for a while before leaving some decent lacing. The aroma is powerfully hops, as you would hope, with floral and grassy dominating with some lemon zing. Some fruitiness in the malt backbone, but the hops continue to dominate the flavor profile. The perfumes are gone and the lemon is king of the flavor profile. Some grainy cereal malt flavors tag along for the ride. This is a very drinkable pilsener with a full palate and clean crisp finish. One of the more lemon-centric pilseners I’ve had lately, but quite enjoyable.

From a 1pt. 9oz. euro brown bottle with a bottled on date on the back label. Made a good appearance, poured a hazy, with light amount of sediment, pilsener golden, that ripening banana yellow, with a foamy white head that settled into a thin, bubbly lacing, good carbonation. Had a honey and lemony fruity nose with light spices and a sourdough breadiness. A malty crisp and smooth medium bodied mouth feel, good drinkability. Honey, lemony and faint banana fruitiness, a sour bready maltiness, a light spiciness from hops that helps frame the taste and a dryish sour malty finish. A good pilsener from Mahrs, one of favorite German brewers, tasty and refreshing.

Bottle thanx to my whife´s sister. Golden colour with a big white head. Malty, grassy, hoppy aroma and a sweet light citrus, hoppy taste. Medium body with a light dry citrus finish.

Impressions from the biergarten:
-The thick foam recedes to a ring around the clear golden.
-The smooth, full body, emulates thickened water after getting acquainted to it.
-Finishes with a mineral touch and shy hoppiness.
-Some hay converses with the fruitiness of pears and plantanes.
-Both beers on gravity cask here were extremely low in carbonation and ended in a watery, mineral note which suggested either a too hard brewing water, or simply the fact that they don’t handle natural carbonation as well as most Franconian breweries.

On tap at the brewery.

A very nice golden pour, with a beautiful white foamy head. Grainey malt profile, with some grassy hoppiness. Very clean on the palate, very drinkable.
