Commercial Description:
This Belgian Abbey Style is a strong brew with slight spice, or phenolic aroma and a light golden color. It was awarded a Bronze Medal at the 1999 California State Fair and has found a large following at Main Street Brewery. We suggest you sip this one and Beware.

Hazy blonde. Flowery, bubblegummy nose. Plastic, nail polish, bubblegum and icing sugar. Typically poor US tripel, I really had trouble choking this one back.

(Draught) Pours a hazy golden body with a small white head. Aroma of coriander, ginger, banana, and citrus. Flavor of coriander, light diacetyl, some citrus, and apricot.

Tasted at the 2004 Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest. Light orange gold color. Small head. Aroma is fruit, sweet and citrus. A medium bodied tripel. Malts are fruity and sweet. Apricots and pears. Light and refreshing. Yeasts are crisp and only slightly estery. Nicely balanced. Very smooth. Clean finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

(Draft: 2005 San Diego Festival of Beer in San Diego, CA) Another regular Main Street beer at festivals in San Diego that guarantees there will be something tasty to drink. The nose and flavor are similar: sweet, loads of banana and spice, and mildly bitter for balance. Medium-full bodied, gently carbonated, and it could be cloying except for the gentle bitterness. Pale golden in color and somewhat hazy. It pours a small white sheen in my festival glass, and that fades quickly to a small ring. Damn dirty festival glass. I really would like to try these Main Street beers at the brewery rather than constantly having them at festivals.

GABF 2008. Apparently this took gold medal this year. Spicy estery aroma, dried straw, chamomile, apricots and yeast. Sweet palate, more fruit than in the aroma, still tons of spice, with a peppery finish. A little too sweet, but otherwise quite nice.
