Very nice aroma; cappuccino, toffee, and vanilla all present, nice and strong. Flavor very good as well, with those aromatics showing up for the most part, as well as a little bitterness; but what is really impressive is the mouthfeel, which might be the creamiest and softest I’ve ever experienced. Perhaps thats not what some of you are looking for in a dry stout, but I just loved it! Definitely one of the top finds from my recent trip to Maine; wish I’d been able to buy more than one bottle of anything. lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2005 Pours black with ruby highlights. Big tan creamy lacy head. Head dissipates but lace remains. Smells like a dry stout. Dry and smoky with hints of bitter dark malt.
Tastes nutty and then bitter burnt malt. Coffee undertones. Very burnt malt. A nice bitter, dry finish.
Well balanced and smooth. Very very good. Must get me some more before winter sets in.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Sep 12, 2005 Pours a brown, five-finger+ head that goes slowly and leaves a chunks of lace. Black color. Explosive carbonation and light bodied. Roasted coffee nose. Starts and finishes dry (the only part that is "Irish style") almost watery but with a good roasted coffee flavor. $2.13 for a 12oz bottle from Bayside Liquors Bar Harbor, Me. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jul 15, 2006 Nice roasted grains, slightly alcoholic scent. Dark brown, almost black with a thick tan head. Way too carbonated, it made a mess just opening it. Carbonation makes it a little too acidic, but otherwise the flavor is nice, full of roasted grains and coffee. This would be a much better beer with less carbonation. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 19, 2003 The pour a piceous color with a smallish head that is frothy and tan in color, the resultant lace a fine silk like sheet to smother the glass. Nose is that of finely toasted grain, sweet and refreshing and the start malt laden and somewhat sweet, top is moderate in its feel to the palate. Finish is biting in its acidity, the hops pleasingly spicy, aftertaste bittersweet and somewhat dry, a fine drinking stout me thinks.
