Explodes out of bottle and pours a light tan, five+ finger head that goes quickly and leaves some lace. Slightly cloudy amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is somewhat malty. Starts malty but the hops come in giving a dry finish. $1.83 for a 12oz bottle from Maine Coast Brewery Bar Harbor, Me.

Amber brown color with a medium thick head and good lace. Sweet malty aroma, similar to freshly mashed barley. Similar flavor. relatively ligght bodied for a brown and smooth.

Deep brown color with a fine head. Full nutty aroma. Good malty nd nutty taste with just a touch of hoppy bitterness on the finish. Somewhat lighter in overall presence than expected.

As it sets in my glass a transparent dark amber to mahogany color, the head modest in size, frothy in texture, the color a nice light tan, and the resultant lace a fine covering sheet to conceal the glass. Nose sweetly malt, crisp and clean, with the start malt sweet and the top middling in its feel to the palate. The finish has a moderate carbonation, the hops persistent in their bite, dry and lingering aftertaste, a quite drinkable beer and another treat from the state of Maine.

Bottle <P> Dark mahogany with good clarity. Foamy, tan head holds at a solid cap. The aroma is a rustic blend of cocoa and nutty malts, which are somewhat overwhelmed by the fruity Ringwood yeast. The flavor is an extension of that, with the distinctive yeast overpowering the round maltiness. Towards the end, suggestions of powdered cocoa, nuts, and leafy hop finally break through. A bit of roasted malt surfaces deep into the aftertaste. On the lighter side of medium in body, with a fairly dry finish. A solid brew. My thanks to it’s brewer Jon for the bottle.

Pleasant-looking dark brown with some red tint; smallish head. Nice sweet nutty-malty aroma, but the flavor is really on the bland side. It’s got a good body, a bit of hops, but the nuttiness is weak and there just isn’t a lot going on. Certainly goes down easy, but that’s it.

Any first impressions?
-A long-lasting head covered the warming deep red.
-Toffee nuttiness and cherry undertones are dissolved into a dusty yeast aroma.
-Sweet, fruity maltiness and dryish yeastiness disagree on the destination.
-The expansive carbonation comfortably breaks on the tongue.

What if you dig deeper?
-Citrusy hoppiness is occasionally found in the nose and in the flavor profile.
-The stale yeast’s agenda seems to prevent the rest of the beer from expressing itself.
-An under average brown ale with yeast issues is what I got. Forgettable, certainly.

Bottle; no date.

(Rating #1795)
