| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 19, 2003 The beer pours a lightly foggy deep amber or copper color with the head portly in size, frothy in texture and a winsome light tan in color, lace a fine sheet to seal off the glass. Sweet malt dominates the nose, fresh and crisp, start is lightly sweet, fair to middling malt presence, top middling in feel. Finish is prickly in its acidity, the hops benign, very dry aftertaste, quite drinkable and a fine session beer if one were lucky enough to have it readily available. shrubber85 (2934), Wallhalben, Germany

Nearly clear amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Bitter hoppy nose. Starts sweet becoming sweet and hoppy with little aftertaste. Better than their Gold. $1.83 for a 12oz bottle from Maine Coast Brewery Bar Harbor, Me. ruggedman (626), Portland, Maine, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 5, 2005 This beer has been revised I was told at the brewery. They’ve added more hop taste and aroma. Now this is a very good pale. Solid as they come, if you’ve had it before this summer I’d beg you to try it again. MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 6, 2006 Any first impressions?
-A boastful head of large bubbles collapses into the clear blood orange, lacing discreetly.
-Earth-laden oranges and various citrus fruit swim freely, foreshadowing dryness.
-Leafy, wooden hops evolve into floral and fruity (oranges) dominions.
-The frothy carbonation expands on the palate, a little too much for the style imho, even redolent of the most lively Belgian ales.
What if you dig deeper?
-A drying effect follows the resinous hops in the finish.
-The lean maltiness is shy on the flavor front.
-Is this on the verge of developing tartness, or is it just the hop profile which is very citrusy?
-A quirky, flavorful pale ale which could benefit from some malt character, but which can nonetheless satisfy a fleeting hop crave.

Clear amber with a foamy, tan head that shrinks quickly to a small, incomplete cap. One dimensional, malty aroma of freshly baked bread. Zero hop presence on the nose. Flavor is balanced between the toasty, bready malt and lemon zest-like hops, which are both overshadowed by the Ringwood yeast. Medium in mouthfeel, with a good, firm crispness that leads to a very clean finish. The aftertaste is entirely from the yeast contribution. Overall, this particular yeast strain is known for it’s ability to take over a beer, and it’s presence is strong here. However, it still manages to leave a good balance of malt and hops, making this a solid pale ale. My thanks to it’s brewer Jon for the bottle.
