Pours a still clear copperish orange with a heterogeneous thin, odd diminishing white head. The nose is sweet with malt, without much hops. Some darker malt, creamy with grape? Almost sickly sweet. Almost no carbonation really. Very subtle. A bit sticky, but not a ton of body at all to this beer. Sweet. Malt forward, hops are really MIA. Again, some darker malt and some grainy flavors. Again a hint of grape. Lingering toasty astringency in the finish. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Fresh from the tank aroma, grassy fresh grain - nice and unique. Dark orange/yellow, little to no head. Good taste - refreshing grainy malt, some hops, bready. Good, unique, I enjoy this style done right. piscator34 (1134), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Bottled sample. Light copper in colour with somewhat low carbonation. Light malt aromas mix with notes of bread, herbal hops, and some non-descript sour fruit. Flavor wise, there’s some lightly toasted bready malts, some subtle wood and earthy hop elements. Moderate body, and slightly watery texture. Not bad at all. jefcon (1009), Arlington, Virginia, USA

I appreciate this beer for holding true to tradition and making a genuine attempt at a keller. The lack of carbonation and the boring palate don’t offer much. Slight grassiness, toast, and Hellertau notes. theisti (1689), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 29, 2008 500 ml bottle purchased at Beertopia in Omaha, Nebraska. Pour is a hazed copper brownish. Thin soapy-bubbly white head. Aroma faint, some light caramel. Taste is muted caramel, honey grassiness and toasted malt. More toasty than sweet, certainly. Palate has a nice unfiltered feel to it, with lingering hay and earthiness. No carbonation to speak of. Nice drinkable beer. blankboy (3251), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours a cloudy orange-copper with no head. Aroma: Wow, that’s different!: Bread or biscuits, caramel, floral hops and spices & herbs. Watery flavour of caramel, bready malt, some toastiness, herbs and a light, short bitter finish. Flat mouthfeel and body. It’s pretty good but it would be great if it weren’t so flat and watery. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 17, 2008 Bottle: Pours a slightly hazy orange bronze with a thin, spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet and toasty German malts with a touch of oxidation and earthy floral hops. Body starts with decent fullness and semi-sweet maltiness balanced with a good amount of crisp noble hop bitterness before a smooth, refreshing finish. A pretty nice kellerbier.
