The nose is toasty and ripe with some fig and herbal hop notes. The flavor is balanced but with the lighter carbonation, it falls a little flat on the mouthfeel. Heavy and biscuity, raw almost, with a dry and disappointing finish. urbnhautebourg (974), Annapolis, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 24, 2008 I can only compare this to Mahr’s Ungespundert and St. Georgenbrau Keller and would say that I don’t think that this has the depth of flavor of the other two, but it does have that really nice duality of earthy and not terribly sweet malt which is dried out with a blunt bitterness. I love the style and I like this beer. Papsoe (14996), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 15, 2008 (Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of KimJohansen. Pous a hazy golden with a small, rough white head. Clean and malty aroma. Medium body, malty with floral accents and a fairly dry and hoppy finish. 130608 SledgeJr (2960), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 14, 2008 In the 0.5L bottle from HyVee CB. Pours a butterscotch golden amber with nearly no head at all. Quite low in carbonation. Malty aroma and matching flavor, this tastes a bit like a medicinal concoction or even quinine. Not bad, just not what I had expected. thegreenrooster (1835), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 17, 2008 Pour is a bright orange with a very small white head. Aroma is toasted caramel malts and a nice dark fruit character. Flavor is very earthy English style hop with a nice dose of strong dark malts followed by a plum aftertaste. Its not often that you get a new kellerbier in the area but i think that this one hits all the right spots to make this an above par offering. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 6, 2008 Slightly simple and one dimensional, but still very drinkable, with a solid toasty malt background, had that neutral barrel aged taste, slightly oxidized and musty, but still pretty clean overall, just tastes kind of tired. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 24, 2008 (bottle thanks for sharing badgerben!) Pours light amber with no head whatsoever. Sweet and grainy aroma with a light bit of hops. Taste is initially sweet but rounds out to a grainy finish. Nothing too complex, but not offensive in any way. badgerben (3600), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
