Cloves and bananas were in attendance. I’m a sucker for a hefe and this was pretty good without being really special.

Sweet orangey wheaty nose pleasant yeasty, wheaty flavour with hints of orange. A decent if a tad thin wheat beer not nastilysweet like some weisse beers. Ernest (4500), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 5, 2004 Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy light amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (bread, caramel, toasted grain, nuts), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with a note of clove, light note of banana. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A nice example of an ur-weisse, a copper-colored old-style weisse. Caramelly, nutty, bready malt gives a nice backbone on which the phenolic yeast can ride. This is probably an old sample, based on the behavior of the head and relative restraint in the nose, but this is still very tasty. Had this once before (but never got around to entering the rating), and the score is about the same. Solid. shrubber85 (2943), Wallhalben, Germany
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 26, 2004 Bottle - Aroma of banana, apricot and mango (give Wacher from Denmark credit for that pick-up - would have taken me hours to figure that out). Orange tan color - cloudy - very pretty. Flavor more middle of the road - carbonation hits first, then light grain and a general sweetness at the end - unfortunately the unique fruit aromas don’t come out much in the taste (I can taste bananas in my mouth after swallowing). This beer is much better in Germany than in the states (would have given it a lower rating in the states). Wacher (129), Århus C, Denmark

Off white head with great retention. Great banana nose. Good yeastiness. Very slight lactic notes in the back. Cornfield (4966), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 17, 2004 Kind of a cloudy copper color with a great looking head and an interesting aroma. It’s got just the right amount of carbonation with a crisp flavor to make it an ideal warm weather beer.
