Maybe my palate was funked up by the Abbaye des Rocs Grand Cru I had before it, but I thought this was odd, distinctive for the style, and quite good. Slightly hazy deep orange pour with white head of big bubbles. Sweet and wheaty. Biscuit notes. The typical banana/clove/yeast were comparatively mild. As much apple as banana. A bit earthy and sweet. Slightly Belgian notes, but perhaps it was the Grand Cru lingering on my palate. hughie (3060), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England

Aroma is cloves and wheaty biscuit, full and rather lovely. Clove and yeast in the taste with all sorts of spicey overtones. This was pretty good. rosenbergh (910), Helsinki, Finland

Deep copper brown colour with massive white head. Caramel, banana, malts and wheat in aroma. Very sweet aroma. More bitterness in flavour. Fruity (apple/banana/citrus), malty and wheaty taste with some spices. Very enjoyable Weizen. RichardW (256), Carlisle, Cumbria, England
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 15, 2009 Bottle, Rehills, Newcastle upon Tyne. Creaminess and herbiness abound in another classic German beer. Pale orange in colour, with a fine, off-white, foamy head, which retains well. Poured fairly clear, with only a trace of yeast left at the bottom of the bottle. Apple and orange apparent in the taste, but subtle and beautifully in proportion. emotv (331), Izmir, Turkey

Had a nice yeast nose, with hints of hops, very herbal. Fruity, flavorful with nice spice notes. Well balanced brew, with a nice mouthfeel, and fruity, creamy yeast finish. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 17, 2009 bottle. Cloudy amber yellow, large and creamy head. Yeasty-fruity nose. Full-bodied, good malty background with nice fruity flavours. This beer doesn’t have the overpowering banana flavour of some Weizenbiere but features well-balanced flavours of tropical fruit (peach mainly) combined with spices such as clove. A very fine brew with a lingering fruity-yeasty finish.
