Magicdave6 (5383), London, Greater London, England Jul 17, 2005 different blonde to what im used to, nice aroma with alot going opn, however taste seems a little bitter with dry finish, like to maybe have another, though not in any rush to order it again from belgium. GarethYoung (1110), Glasgow, Scotland Jul 17, 2005 [bottle from magic dave6] pours orange yellow colour with a large but quickly collapsing head. Nose is yeasty with some fruits, apricots, plums, a little cherry with faint peppery notes in the background. body is fizzy with a little dryness in the aftertaste. mj (4971), Colorado, USA Jul 12, 2005 Bottle shared at RBSG 2005 thanks to EyeDrinkAle. Has a glowing, muky golden yellow body with a white hue and some floaties swirling around the glass. Very fresh tasting - I don’t think this is a 2000 vintage, rather just uses MM/2000 in the name - with some fluffy marshmallow flavors, along with some banana, peppery, spicy yeast and finishing with some floral flavors. A very well made beer, and something I was fortunate enough to try. argo0 (6842), Washington DC, USA Jul 12, 2005 (Bottle, RBSG05) Explosive on opening, eventually yielding a cloudy lemon yellow body topped by a white head. Aroma is medium sweet, lemon sour, yeasty. Taste is medium sweet, yeasty, lemon, her, light banana, definite yeast. Nice carbonation, light-medium body. Earlier Rating: 5/7/2003 Total Score: 3.2 Hazy apple juice color, with a medium off-white head. Aroma is spicy, apple, acidic, musty. Taste is fruity (apple/pear), acidic and yeasty, with minimal sweetness. Finish has slight bitterness. Alcohol is apparent, but not overwhelming -- has a nice warming effect. Quite dry. Evokes comparison to champagne, though not as sweet. Given that I am not a fan of champagne, this isn't something I relish. JonMoore (1561), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Jul 12, 2005 Bottle. Hazy/cloudy gold colour with large white head. Aroma is spicey, orange, honey; taste is honey and hoppy. Alcohol is evident, ’though not overly, in the finish. Quite highly carbonated, medium mouthfeel. Good stuff. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jul 12, 2005 Sample from bottle at RBSG Montreal. Luscious opaque gold, full of floaty black bits of yeast, capped by a lasting cumulous cloud that laces a bit as it fades ever so slowly....big farmy-sour nose, overripe sunheated lemons and limes interacting with freshly cut pine boards, hibiscus and perfume, just gorgeous...the mouth feels honey stickiness and perhaps a touch of maple, pepper towards the end and cotton-candy...but strong alcohol is a bit overpowering at the end and keeps this just on the edge of greatness...overall, still, masterful, and probably my best of the fest. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 11, 2005 RBSG 05 Pours a hazy blonde color with a medium white head. Excellent aroma of yeast with fruits and spices. Excellent flavor of yeast, fruits, spices with a slightly alcoholic finish. The body is medium with a very smooth and confortable mouthfeel, the carbonation is forcefull wthout being fizzy and does a good job of carrying the flavor. Excellent beer. BeanDip (107), Florida, USA Jul 4, 2005 Hazy amber color with the nicest pillowy white head. Really nice carbonation and creamy texture underneath. Aroma is pure Beligan ale with that nice pepper spice you get with Malheur. Apple fruit and just the right amount of sweet - which is just a tad up front. Nice floral hop emerges on the drying, slightly bitter finish. Very nice. Earlier Rating: 10/9/2003 Total Score: 4.1 Honey colored and lively with bubbles. Meringue like head - tight with tiny, tightly packed bubbles which has worked it's way down to thick, lacy film covering the top of the beer. The aroma is outstanding - tropical fruit - banana, pineapple with a touch of cotton candy. Carbonation hits the tongue first. Buttery. Fruit and malt give way to spicy, bitter hops. Hop bite latches on the back of your tongue and clings there. Texture is rich, thick and coats my mouth. Very nice.
