Charlottesville, VA. Best by 03.10.09. Pours a hazy peach color
with a medium fizzy head. Average head retention and lacing.
Fruity and syrupy aroma with pear, peach and hop notes. Taste is
strong candi sugar and cotton candy. Some spice and fruity notes
as well. Alcohol warmth in the finish. Full bodied and slightly
chewy.

Jun 29, 2004 Bottle: Poured a golden colored beer with a nice thick head. Aroma is quite hoppy and floral. Taste is also hoppy and floral with a hint of citrus (lemon, orange) with a bitter finish. Alcohol is well hidden which I’m starting to believe is a Belgian miracle. Good carbonation with standard body. Makes me want to investigate more beers from this brewery.

Aug 28, 2005 Pours with a golden body topped by a medium thick head with some lacing. It’s sweet and spicy with some malt, and a little yeast. Medium bodied, tingly and warming.

Jul 22, 2007 Pours a bit on the cloudy side with a big sticky head. The aroma is phenols and fruit. A little melon and the fruitiness of a chile pepper. The flavor is sweet and not really backed up by enough bitterness.

Oct 19, 2007 750 ml bottle from la bodega. hazy yellow with a huge foamy head. Aroma of fruit, yeast, and alcohol. Pear and banana taste with hints of honey and spice.

Sep 4, 2008 Pours a lightly hazy golden-orange color with a small, foamy, off-white head. Thick, sticky flares and spots of lacing mark the glass well. The aroma shows ultra-sweet fruity notes of stewed golden raisons and green apples, with sweet pale malts and hints of vanilla. Perfumy, floral hops and slightly funky Belgian yeast complete the nose. Flavors are again too sweet, with sugary pale malts and golden raison-apple showing almost dessert-like. A lightly floral hoppiness lends a hint of bitterness, while dry, funky, peppery yeast emerges on the finish. Sweet and sticky up front, the palate transitions quickly to dry and fizzy. Overall, this is a decent brew, but majorly sweet Belgian tripels/golden strongs just aren’t my style.
