Warm going down throat. Definite alchol presence but works well with medium carbonation and intense sweet/hoppy flavor. nothing extremely groundbreaking but enjoyable. Cloudy lemon yellow color, the head is quite frothy, XXXL in size, slightly off white, the lace in large sheets. Nose is citrus, malt, slightly ’perfumy’, somewhat sweet. Front ’If I can ever get past this head’ is sweet, the top is light, the finish is ’Vinous’, slightly sour, quite dry, acidic, a fair hop presence, and a decent drinking beer. Ranks a respectable #395 on my current 1000 beer master list.

Tart sour nose with yeast. Reminds me of Brut. Smooth, somewhat yeasty mouth of oranges and barnyard. Warming alcoholic finish. Bov (5478), Bienne, Switzerland
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 11, 2002 pale orange colour, big creamy head and beautiful lace, deep complex aroma (orange, honey, spices, bread), smooth and very sweet, some bitterness, (too) strong alcohol presence, very long spicy, alcohol and raisins aftertaste - quite out of balance but should age well Ernest (4499), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 22, 2003 Updated: Jun 10, 2007750mL bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, most lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma moderately malty (toasted grain/bread), lightly to moderately hoppy (herbs, flowers), lightly to moderately yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with light notes of lemon zest, pepper, and Juicy Fruit gum. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly
alcoholic. A good, clean, strong golden ale. Nothing flashy or adventurous here, but for a strong golden ale it’s exceptionally clean smelling/tasting and frighteningly quaffable (amazingly well-hidden alcohol). Would easily put this up against nearly any 9-11% Belgian golden...some may have more exciting aromas, but few are so elegant and efficiently put together. Mads Langtved (2246), Copenhagen K, Denmark

Looks absolutely delicious. Aroma comes right after you very strongly: tart citrus fruits, banana, dough, cloves, some slight toffee to round it out. Flavor is definitely honeyish and sweet, banana, and a bit of earthiness. Heavy mouthfeel. Overall, looks and smells better than it tastes, but still pretty decent. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2008 Hazy golden color with a tall off-white head. Sweet aromas of honey and light fruit. Stewed raisins and figs with a few thin slices of orange floating on top. Touch of yeast and some white pepper and vanilla. Interesting scents but I’m not being sucked in. Alcohol also creeps in as this sets in the glass for awhile. Light sweet malt in the start is met by an in rush of ripe light fruits soaked in light rum. Mild yeast and spice in the middle. Apricot really comes in the linger. I enjoy this and am thinking the sum is truly greater than the parts.
