| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 4, 2008 Updated: Sep 5, 2008Pouring a dark, muddy brown color, the body is crowned by a small but well retained head of tan colored foam. Wet spots and flares of lacing mark the glass in a random, scattered pattern. The aroma shows dark, dried fruits, primarily raisons, plums, and figs. Hints of cinnamon and creamy, lightly peppery Belgian yeast complete the nose. Flavors are sweet up front, but well integrated with earthy, spicy hops. Raisons and figs are the dominant components, but a creamy element plays a major role. Medium-full bodied and silky smooth, it drinks quite well for a 12% beer. Overall, very solid. Compared against St. Bernardus Abt 12, it did fairly decent. eboats (897), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 22, 2008 Was given an 11.2 oz. bottle- and it’s a Friday! The pour: rich, head collapses quickly due to it’s high alochol content. The color: deep, dark, almost stoutish in color. The bouquet: very ripe plums, baker’s dark chocolate, with nice roasted malt subtleties. The palate: toasty, malty, a rich creaminess and pepperiness at the same time. (Not easy to achieve in a beer!) The finish: wonderful lingering malt finish. This is a wonderful beer. I have had their tripel, and it was fantastic as well! Palidor19 (1792), Brandon, Florida, USA
