Pours rich brown with a fine dark tan head. Very bright aroma, a fresh cola quality, caramel, violets, mint. Soft minty chocolate flavor, spicy-sweet alcohol warmth, transitions to menthol cooling finish. Very different, even among the eccentric world of Belgian Strong Ales. Initially I was totally on board with this. But half way through my little 25 cl bottle, it starts to get a little much. Too much sticky-sweet, too much mint. Too much like old-man port. It did start off really well though... wyzzywyz22 (799), Wirral, Merseyside, England

Aroma of molasses and brandy. Flavour is spicy and sweetish ,and has hints of raisin, prune and caramel. Bit syrupy; alcohol masked very well. Doesn’t this mean ’bad hour’ ?! bumpskier (25), Sonoma, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 22, 2008 Pours a very dense opaque. Carbonation suitable for the style. The aroma is somewhat subdued but carries a mild fruity aroma from the malts & true to the commercial description retains some of the floral notes as well. Not yeast fruity. Drinks very digestible and dry. Not cloyingly sweet as some U.S. version finish. However, I would have like to have the flavor last a little longer on my palate. Not that a clean finish is inappropriate, but I was left wanting. Overall this is a beer I will drink more of and enjoy during the colder days of any season. An excellent beer to have in the cellar. ironchefscott (342), portland, Oregon, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 7, 2008 The beer pours a dark brown. The head is a slightly creamy that is brown white in color. The nose is light but has a hint of roasted malt. At first taste I get a front of metallic cooper followed by a hint of plum with an almost wet wood or paper flavor. As the beer warms it loses the copper taste The mouth feel is slightly oily Blom (514), Odense, Denmark
