Dark brown colored pour with large head. Sweet malty, spicy, chocolatey aroma. Sweet, chocolatey, malty finish.

Bottle shared by Crosling. Poured a deep brown-amber color with a moderate beige head that eventually faded. Aroma was mostly dark fruits and sugar, didn’t really get any floral tones. Sweet flavor of candy sugars and and slight fruity esters, not much else. Decent body, and no alcohol detectable. Easy to drink. Thanks Nick.

750 from the Michael Jackson Rare Beer Club. Delightful looking pour, dark, frothing, effervescent like a big boomin’ grand cru. The nose is comparable, with lots and lots of figs, currants, and some floral notes in there too. Deceptively easy drinking, given the high abv (me, I split this over two nights). Nice stuff.

[1059-20080122] 250mL (w/ jerc). Mild toasted yeast aroma with a sweet malt empty alcohol grains base. Black body with a quick foamy off-white head. Boozy toasted sweet malt flavour. Medium body is thin and boozy. Interesting brew but too sweet and boozy. (7/3/7/3/13) 3.3

[1164B-20080301] Tap. Mildly roasted malt aroma is a little sweet. Dark dark brown body with a medium-lasting creamy light tan head. Fruity roasted malt flavour has a sweet finish. Medium-full body is smooth. Enjoyable. (7/4/8/4/17) 4.0

2008-03-01. Dark brown body with a modest creamy tan head (3+). Aroma of what I assume to be hops which is unexpected. Muted malts supporting it. (7+) Flavour is sweet malt, dry underlying fruit, mild sugary caramel notes. (7+) Smooth average plus palate. (3+). Solid. 7/3/8/3/16 - 3.7
Bottle at Zythos Festival, St. Niklaas <P>2008-01-22. Very dark effervescent body , small tan head. Sweet sugary malt in the aroma initially gives way to an alcoholic follow up, light notes of raisins and dark fruit. Sweet sugary malt, is quickly dried out with an alcoholic counter in the finish. Alcohol lingers in the aftertaste. Smooth medium palate is surprisingly uncarbonated considering the number of bubbles during the pour. (3+) Quite pleasant but the alcohol is a bit rough around the edges. 7/3/7/3/15 - 3.5

Pour is dark and still-seeming cola color with a big bubbled fast fading tan head that subsided into a this skin/ring...smell is sweet and musty with molasses, toffee, caramel, some anise/licorice spice notes as well...taste is curious...very light mouthfeel and flavor, especially for a 12% beer...some alcoholic notes were present in the nose, but very little is present in the flavor...the caramel and spicy licorice notes are there, but also very subtle...nice light mouthfeel and flavor profile...not a whole lot going on there...quick lightly sweet finish...definitely drinkable...
