| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 12, 2006 sampled in Poperinge en route to In de Verde: nose is alcohol, hops, and carmel malt, in that order. dark brown beer that poured into a trappist glass with only a small head, I wish that I had poured it more vigurously. While alcohol is very precent in the flavor as well... it is a bit too much but does work to complement the hops. I liked the sting up the hops and the alcohol with some malt rounding it out. Nice active and silky mouthfeel Still really good. and pretty cheap. Magicdave6 (5558), London, Greater London, England

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 30, 2006 Bottle. Off-white fluffy and lasting head. Clear dark red body. Spicy caramel alcohol aroma. Too bad the alcohol is dominant. The caramel malt flavor is more or less killed by the alcohol. Wonder if the high ratings by others reflect their love for alcohol ? | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Sep 28, 2006 Dark ruby (almost brown) with a short lived off-white head. Pleasant aroma of figs, dates and chocolate cake. Unfortunately the taste is dominated by an alcohol presence that feels even more than 12%. When I focus very hard I think I do get some dark fruits and maybe even some medium-bitter hops but it’s all buried under a ton of alcohol. Too bad, I’m a big fan of most of their other products. The 6, 8 and 10 were all good products. If it’s new numbers they are looking for, may I suggest 7 and 9. Dedollewaitor (3771), Odense, Denmark

Sweetness from malts - caramel. warmth from alcohol. Little spicyness and a soft carbonation.. Actually almost easy drinkable compared to the abv. Filling body. Great lasting finish! Dope! | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 15, 2006 Bottle at Frigo in Shinjuku, Tokyo. This one was a total surprise to me... I went for this one on the recommendation of RateBeer user TimE. Poured a dark reddish-brown color, with a decent amount of foamy head that faded into a thin layer of microscopic bubbles. The aroma was fairly light (definitely decieving)...some sweetness, malts, dried fruits were detectable. Huge, rich flavors of dark dried fruits (cherries, dates, figs, raisins), sweet malts, dark candy sugar, yeast. Very dense and rich, but soft and velvety mouthfeel. Amazing. I had never heard of this before. I think that as more people rate this beer, it will prove itself as a true heavyweight of the style. TimE (1364), Tokyo, Japan
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 14, 2006 250ml bottle. Dark brown color, with a creamy, but quickly fading light brown head. As the brew neared my nose, I thought I was going to jump in a pool of truffles, hazelnuts, melons, cherries and oranges. I could not wait to dive in. ahhh yes, smooth heavenly chocolate everywhere, its wonderful, pistachos, oranges, hazelnuts. As I get out I have a warm alcholic buzz that gives my tummy a warm feeling. As I dry off I sense milk chocolate and oranges. simply brilliant.
