Pours dark brown, with a tanned head. No lacing. Very nice sharp sweetnes. Aromas of caramel, prunes, yeast, alcohol and port. Quite full. Finishes sweet and malty with some alcohol. Wonderful sipping beer.

Very dark mahogany with a nice tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, plums and grapes. Very sweet (but not cloying), with dark fruits, chocolate and dark malts. Slightly alcoholic finish. Surprisingly drinkable for its strength.

To begin with, this is one BIG S.O.B. of a beer. Don’t know if I could handle a 750ml but it would be fun to try!!! Reddish brown color. A tiny layer of foam resided on top. Malty flavor but especially loaded with lots of chocolate flavor. Alcohol finish but not a harsh one. Thick oily mouthfeel. This is definitely a sipping beer and a good one at that.

This was sold to me as resembling a barley wine. It does, but it’s much stronger and more alcoholic. It’s actually almost too alcoholic. But wonderfully rich and ripe.

Malheur 12 is among the best of the non-trappist dark, strong ales. It is a very dark, muddy ale with an exceptionally powerful taste of dark malt and caramel. The aroma is a little too port-like to my taste, but the nicely balanced, spicy bitterness in the aftertaste compensates for this.

(Bottle 0,25L) Dark brown, light brown head - quickly dissapearing. Great taste with notes of caramel, chocolate, hops & roasted malt. A highly enjoyable strong ale..

Dark brown with red tones. Creamy tan and stable head. Bitter chocolate and dried fruits in the aroma. Warming alcohol, caramel, sweet yet balanced by good bitterness.Soft on the palate. How would this beer taste in 3 to 5 years?
