| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Aug 6, 2009 330ml bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Pours dark reddish brown with several inches of off-white head that settles down to about a half inch. Smells of cocoa and pit fruit. Tastes of raisins and chocolate with a good deal of sweetness behind it. Not sticky or cloying though and manages to finish nice and dry. Very smooth and the 12% abv is wholly unnoticed. This stuff is dangerous. ghawener (965), San Salvador, El Salvador

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 28, 2009 Very lively out of the bottle. Almost black in colour. Powerful aroma with malts and lots of alcohol. The alcohol in the flavour is very much a warm and soft sensastion and works well against the overall maltiness of the beer. The thick texture adds richness.

Poured clear brown color with a large frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Aroma was complex sweet malty and yeast. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet dark fruit flavor with medium sweet with small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration.
This is a standout brew.
