| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 14, 2009 Tasted @ Zythos march 7th 2009. The fierce head keeps this sensational beer hidden until it contacts your mouth. A nice pick of dark mouts and a fine palate of hop bitters make up for this fine and balanced beerdrinking experience. Enjoyable long after its last drop. Because the price is so right in comparison to the Malheur Dark Brut, and because even champagne gets boring over time, I rate this beer a bit higher. A botttle is already waiting for a reprise but for now, I rest my case. esox (271), Oulu, Finland
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 3, 2009 Bottled. Dark ruby to brown beer with a medium-sized and a bit soapy but quite creamy head. The aroma is strong, malty darkish fruity (some banana, peach, prunes) and slightly yeasty and alcoholic. The flavor is more malty than fruity. Darkish caramel, prunes and other dark fruits. A bit too sweet maybe. Low bitterness and some alcohol in the finish. Some sour yeast and ripes in the finish. Full bodied palate is a bit carbonated but pleasant. Alcohol is warming nicely. Dangerously easy to drink. fastcarjoe (8), Morton Grove, Illinois, USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 3, 2009 Updated: Mar 6, 2009A wonderful dark Belgian ale. Aroma is caramel like and slightly nutty in character. Appearance is dark brown with a well developed, creamy, thick, frothy head that compliments the flavor quite well. Taste is typical Belgium dark ale, similar to a quad. A velvety smooth malt with a tasty sweetness provided by typical Belgian sugars, mildly hopped but it is enough to offset the sweetness and add to the aroma. Very tasty. Todeon (315), Sweden
