fiulijn (5900), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Feb 10, 2005 Dark color; nice head. Very complex aroma, with a base of banana and much more (spices? Chocolate? Herbs? Mint? …). High carbonation, but still good malt and strong bitterness.

JAXSON (109), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 3, 2008 Bottle opens with a huge, resounding POP! Westy 12 like in appearance, thin, creamy, cobwebby head, and a darkbrown with reddish edges. I’m immediately comparing this to some great Belgian quadruppels, specifically Rochefort 10, Westy 12, maybe St. Bernardus 12. It has the kind of blueberry-like element of the Rochefort, the beautiful malt and dark fruits of all three. The feel is a touch thin. Not boozy, very lively, spritzy, deep, and elegant. Extremely underrated given the huge appeal this should have for anyone who likes the big belgian quads. Vertical Bacon Strips (1), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada does not count Sep 27, 2008 Man, I’m trashed...
Poured out a small sized rocky, light tan head that has good retention and some spotty lacing over a nice dark, hazy brown brew. The aroma is very nice and mild with obvious sweetness, fruit (candy raspberries, blackberries), a bit of caramel, weak wood, chocolate, slight herb and probably vanilla. The taste is amazing and instantly comes across as highly drinkable: immediate fruit (raspberries, strawberry, raisin), caramel. The spice in surprisingly soft - the total lack of alcohol here is impressive to say the least. Round the flavour out with plums, fig, earth, licorice,... mmm. Not as good as the aroma but there is no stopping drinking this entire bottle. Mouth feel disappoints as it does come across light an don times empty feeling but, hey, sometimes that is better than a face full of yeast. Finishes very smooth with a bit of a drying while keeping a bit of film. This truly is a killer brew - it’s a pisser that it costs 23$ a bottle here!

Sweet fruity hoppy aroma. Lovely dark berry and sherbet - raspberry? A little flat palate, almost water - hard to believe this is 12% - but there’s a big hoppy tingle. On swallowing, it’s soft and malty - absolutely lovely. stouby (1533), Holbaek, Denmark Sep 14, 2008 Bottle at EBF 2008.
Hazy brown with a off white head. Aroma heavy malty (dark fruits, chocolate). Flavor moderate/heavy sweet. Full body, sparkling.
