Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 17, 2004 Oale golden ale with a light white head. Very faint raisin aroma. Alcohol warmth is not balnced with an unpleasnat pungeant taste. Very thin boring barley wine. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Jul 2, 2004 One of my favorite styles but this is not one of my favorite beers. A bit too sweet for my liking and way too think. A bit more carbonation would have worked. It tasted too much like honey with almost the same consistancy. Volgon (2487), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jun 30, 2004 Brewtopia 2004: On cask: Clear orange with a frothy head. Alcohol aroma with some port notes. Ends dry, and almost tastes like an old ale. willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Jun 30, 2004 Brewtopia’04. On cask. Sweet, juicy fruit malty nose. Hints of OH. Flavor is a bit boozy, some vanilla, dried apples, mango(?). Not as thick or soft on the palate as I’d like but somewhat thin feeling...could use more carbonation or fuller body. wnp22 (682), Toronto (Roncesvalles Village), Ontario, Canada Jun 28, 2004 Tasted in NYC. Tasted at Brewtopia 04. Amvber brown colour and golden colour. Taste is of brandy and port wine. Fairly thin consistency but a pretty good finish. OldGrowth (1407), North Carolina, USA Jun 25, 2004 Updated: Jun 29, 2004cask at Brewtopia, Ok nose fruity medicine. Copper orange color. Apple, carmel, vanilla flavors. Kinda syrupy but thinner overall. Surprised thay said its 9 plus percent. Just ok notalush (2627), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 23, 2004 cask at brewtopia - to me, this beer tasted like malty medication, like something your grandmother would give you as a curative for some anachronistic condition that has long been dismissed by medical science, like the "vapours" - patent medicine, yes, beer? SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Jun 23, 2004 Updated: Jun 24, 2004Cask at Brewtopia ’04
Deep amber color with a restrained head. Aroma of malt laced with vanilla.
The flavor is smooth, malty with dried fruit, but needs more intensity.
