Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jan 23, 2009 Bottled. Poured medium orange with lots of sediment (even when somewhat carefully decanted).. white head didn’t’ stick around for long. The aroma picked up sour lactic and lighter fruity notes first and foremost with a bunch of other interesting character to it (spicy yeast, banana, and aged caramel to name a few).. sweetness masked the alcohol, but I could tell it was there. The flavor had some brazen alcohol join the aforementioned sour character (mainly fruity) that kept this from being enjoyable.. spicy yeast, banana, and vanilla also came to play.. finished strong and sour. Medium-plus bodied on the palate, and it struggled to find a good flow. This just never came together for me. jimbowood (947), Athens, Georgia, USA Apr 19, 2008 bottle from naven. An interesting brew. Like a combo of weizen, tripel, and sour. Brett undertones. Very drinkable and refreshing while being pretty complex. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 18, 2008 Bottle from Dunk. Hazy glowing orange color with small lacing type head. Aroma of milk, honey, and yeast. The flavor was yeasty and sweet with bready type flavors mixed with oranges and honey. Much better as it warms. Dunk (35), SoCal, USA Mar 20, 2008 Pours a golden color with a hint of orange - nice. Aroma is fruity, yeast with some spicy, grassy notes. Flavor is sharp, spicy with a dry tart finish. Sour, tart. lemony finish dominates with some mineral flavors as well. Not sure about the dominant lemon notes - should be interesting with some age. Nove beer - I’m looking forward to tasting another bottle in a few months. Naven (864), Poway, California, USA Mar 7, 2008 12 oz bottle from Hi-Time. Nice looking beer. Almost gold in color. Smell is a mix of fruit and yeast, almost resembling a Hefe. Flavor is very fruity and vibrant. Banana, apple, lemon and spice. There is a sour, lemony finish that didn’t sit well with me. Otherwise, it’s a nice beer. bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Jan 14, 2008 Bottle from Hi-Time. Aromas of light fruit and candi and spice. Orange amber color with a head that didn’t survive. Medium body with crisp carbonation. Flavor is sweet, peppery spice, a bit of sour, apple, white grape. Malty. Yeasty. Finishes dry and spicey. Words are inadequate. Really smooth and tasty. Clove just developed. Seems to improve with time and warmth. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Jan 9, 2008 Updated: Mar 19, 2008Hazy orange gold. Aroma of apples, pears, yeast, spice, Maybe some chardonay like notes too. Dry grapes. Flavor is similar with yeast, spice, a touch of tart fruit. Alcohol makes it presence felt when you breathe out, but that is it. Nice tart fruit notes in this one. This is one of my favorite breweries. I feel that it is often overlooked, but they make amazing beer. This is a very enjoyable beer. Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA Oct 29, 2007 (bottle from hi-time wine.)a murky mix of yellow, orange, and brown make up the body appearance.the head is a nice white in color ,and leaves some thick webbing on the glass.its an awesome looking brew.the aroma is a nice mix of bananas, clove, cinnamon, caramel malt, and belgian yeast.the flavor boasts much of the same, but doesnt seem as complex as the aroma.plus the body is a bit watery.
