Commercial Description:
Redolent of coffee and dark chocolate, Double Nut Brown is our amped-up version of a traditional Nut Brown. This dark ale combines a mild sweetness with a finishing roasty dryness, and is brewed with roasted, brown and dark Munich malts.

22 ounce bottle from Nugget in Davis, CA. Aroma is a pungent roasted coffee one. There is is a little sweet chocolate thing going on as well as some chalk dust smells. I really can’t get past the chalk smell. Virtually transparent dark brown/mahogany body with a fluffy tan head. Has a nice sweet, chocolate flavor to start, which becomes a bit metallic and toasted/roasted in the middle. Lightly bitter to finish. Drinks pretty well. Still can’t figure out the chalkiness in the nose. Thankfully, it’s not in the flavor.

This poured a medium brown color with an off white head. Aroma was sweeter malts, nutty and some toffee. Flavor was upfront munich malt, and toffee, some roastidness, followed by a sweet aftertaste.

Sweet caramel coffee aroma with some subtle smokiness. Appearance is a deep dark brown with a thick tan head - almost stout-like. Flavor is sweet and smoky malt. Some toasted nut flavor as well. A somewhat watery finish with tight carbonation. Little bitterness aside from the coffee notes.

12oz bottle Nice dark brown color with reddish hints and an offwhite head, I thought that this beer was pretty tasty. The aroma was of coffee and some chocolate notes, the flavor was dry with nutty roastiness. Very tasty.

Nicely earthy and nutty, with a bit of coffee and chocolate. Some dark fruits also sneak in there, but are a bit harder to find.

Bottle. Pours a nice rich coffee brown with almost no head. Nose is rich with nuts and coffee. Flavors of nuts, chocolate, coffee, and dried fruit. Mouth is rich and smooth. nice medium body. This is an excellent brown ale! Becomes a little sweet at times but a wonderful flavor profile for a medium bodied beer.

Mammoth Double Nut Brown is an incredibly dark brown ale that’s almost opaque. The coffee ice cream colored head is dense and slowly thins to a film with oily bubbles and dense lacing. A deep, dark roast coffee aroma sits on a nutty, slightly sweet malty scent. There’s possibly a touch of mint in the nose. It’s full bodied and very smooth with a long, ashy finish. It tastes a touch sweet, but there’s enough bitterness to balance it out. It tastes nutty-- walnutty, even. The deep, soft sweetness lasts through the finish. The bitterness is secondary here, but it’s leafy and appropriately strong. It’s very drinkable on account of all that big, bold, brown flavor.
