Appearance is a deep dark brown with a thick tan head - almost stout-like. Flavor is sweet and smoky malt. Some toasted nut flavor as well. A somewhat watery finish with tight carbonation. Little bitterness aside from the coffee notes. JohnC (2284), Mission Viejo, California, USA

Nice dark brown color with reddish hints and an offwhite head, I thought that this beer was pretty tasty.
The aroma was of coffee and some chocolate notes, the flavor was dry with nutty roastiness. Very tasty. Plamadude30k (122), Tucson, Arizona, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 10, 2009 Bottle. Pours a nice rich coffee brown with almost no head. Nose is rich with nuts and coffee. Flavors of nuts, chocolate, coffee, and dried fruit. Mouth is rich and smooth. nice medium body. This is an excellent brown ale! Becomes a little sweet at times but a wonderful flavor profile for a medium bodied beer. yesyouam (602), Fairport, New York, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 10, 2009 Mammoth Double Nut Brown is an incredibly dark brown ale that’s almost opaque. The coffee ice cream colored head is dense and slowly thins to a film with oily bubbles and dense lacing. A deep, dark roast coffee aroma sits on a nutty, slightly sweet malty scent. There’s possibly a touch of mint in the nose. It’s full bodied and very smooth with a long, ashy finish. It tastes a touch sweet, but there’s enough bitterness to balance it out. It tastes nutty-- walnutty, even. The deep, soft sweetness lasts through the finish. The bitterness is secondary here, but it’s leafy and appropriately strong. It’s very drinkable on account of all that big, bold, brown flavor. baraciisch (140), USA

Leaves a nutty finish on the palate and a hint of hoppy bitterness... Clear brown in color.. No distinct aroma... Great beer... iowaherkeye (1860), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 23, 2009 12oz bottle, no date. Pours a medium brown--deep ruby in the glass--with a small light tan head, fair retention. Nice and roasty--kinda like a weakened porter (which I kinda guess is what a brown ale is)--with some roasted peanuts in their shells. There is also some toasted malts, milk chocolate, and a little sweet caramel. The flavor seems to add a bit of lactose up front, but still has a good amount of roasted malts. The nuttiness is lessened, and the finish is dry, roasty bitterness at a 3. Medium body with light carbonation. Pretty decent. Oscbert (549), Sacramento, California, USA

Taste needs a bit of a boost.
