Commercial Description:
Redolent of coffee and dark chocolate, Double Nut Brown is our amped-up version of a traditional Nut Brown. This dark ale combines a mild sweetness with a finishing roasty dryness, and is brewed with roasted, brown and dark Munich malts.

Just an average nut brown...a little too overwhelmed by the coffee flavors, and too dry for preference in the style...still one of Mammoth’s better beers.

(12oz bottle) Lovely medium tan head atop a clear dark red-brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, chocolate, nut, some caramel, light roast. Taste is moderately sweet, cocoa, roast, some nut, light coffee. No hoppiness noticed. Medium body, no sign of the elevated ABV.

This brown ale pours a medium amber color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is slightly roasty malts and slightly sweet. A medium bodied brown ale. Malts are caramel and sweet, touch of nuts. Hops are floral and earthy. Kind of mild tasting and perhaps a touch sweet. Nice easy drinking brown ale. Wish it were a tad more nutty. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

12 oz from either Hi-Time Wine or Bevmo...forget which.
Aroma is heavy peanut skin, vegetable oil and pretty dang big on chocolate aromas. You also get a healthy dose of coffee. Pretty solid smelling Brown Ale if atypical...though what is typical for a Double Brown Ale?
Body pours murky river water brown and settles a deep ruddy brown that is very close to black. The head is dark tan, a thumb thick and fades slowly.
Fairly heavy, for a brown ale, on the palate, but the fore is somewhat light on flavor...mild toasty malts, definite nuttiness...but not a high concentration. It gets more compressed throught the middle with chocolate, coffee, peanut skin and mild burnt/black chocalate notes. I really like this. It finishes with a strong dark chocolate/mint flourish. I wish this is what most Brown Ales tasted like.

Bottle: Pours a dark brown/ebony color with a thick tan head. The nose is very, nutty I guess, with lots of caramel and light roast and coffee. The flavor is a bit sweet and dry with some sesame oil and chocolate. The finish is creamy, a bit tangy, but still mellow and nutty through the end. Not bad.

Body is brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, much like a porter with hazelnut extra. Taste is like a porter also, heavy coffee, with hazelnut. Differant, but nice. Much more like a porter.

Pours with a three finger light tan head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Almost black color. Liight carbonation and medium bodied. Malty nose. Starts sweety, nutty smooth, finish is clean with traces of hops. Good brown. $1.69 for a 12oz bottle from Hi-Time Cellars Costa Mesa, Ca.
