| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 20, 2009 Bomber purchased at brewery while on a mountain biking trip to Mammoth. Pours a cloudy orange-amber with a small white head. Mellow hoppy aroma of pears and light citrus, light mango. The nose is promising but there is something off in the flavor. The flavor is dominated by bitterness and simply not very balanced. It’s a spicy kind of hop bitterness. Not sure if they need to change the hop profile or simply balance it better with the malt. Not unpleasant, just not quite where it should be. SamGamgee (1434), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jul 25, 2009 12oz bottle. Light amber color with some sediment from the bottle conditioning, capped by a clinging head. OK, this is where it gets weird. This is two shades away from being a great IPA, but something with the hop combo they use gives it this spicy, oniony vegetal aroma and flavor that just does not really work. The aroma has a nice hop intensity. The flavor has a nice dry, toasted malt base, higher bitterness, and plenty of hop flavor. The hops are spicy and floral, and if it werent for the vegetal character, I really think I would love this beer. Hopefully this is a crop quirk that might go away in the next year because it feels like this is a well made beer. baraciisch (138), USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 3, 2009 Amazing hops aroma... Golden orange in color...Flavor is a little too hoppy, without much sweetness, not very balanced... Fairly bitter palate, but I’ve had worse... Tastes too piney... Below average west coast IPA
