Commercial Description:
A bavarian style wheat beer that is naturally cloudy and delightfully refreshing. We named it after a local volcanic rock called pumice. So light it floats on water. Drink up and experience a zen-like feeling of lightness.

Smells like orangey wheat. Pretty cloudy. This was not good at all. Tangy with a sour lemon bite, nothing about this is good. All I can say based on the scores of others is that perhaps this bottle was tainted.

Bomber from South Bay Drug. Hazy lemon color with very little white head. Aromas of grain and citrus. Banana as the glass approaches the lips. Not quite medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is grain, mild banana, mild spice. Not spectacular, but likely refreshing on a hot day.

A typical hefewezen with the usual suspects: Wheat, banana, and a little bit of spice. A pleasant walnut flavor also appears. Okay, better than the typical hefeweizen. Overall, good.

Very clear light color with a thin, quickly diminishing foam. Orange zest aroma, with foul smells of cream corn. Super sour and foul, lacking yeast character. Lots of cream corn and other foul notes. Grainy and poor for the style. Very poor.

Hazy gold with a white head. Decent yeasty peppery citrusy aroma. Medium body. Flavor is lightly sweet grainy malt with a touch of tart wheat and sweet spices. Not too bad.

18-Aug-08 (22-oz bottle: Purchased 12-May-08 for $3.49 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Bright orange in color and very hazy in the glass, but the whitish head pours very small, almost filmy, and settles to a thin ring, which is surprising given the loud rush of carbonation gasses when the cap was popped. The beer smells lemony and very cheesy immediately after pouring from the bottle, but soon tacks on bready and mildly dusty tones as well. Fortunately, the cheesiness blows off for the most part, that is, unless the glass is swirled. On the palate, the beer is fairly uniform from start to finish, presenting a pleasant weave of tart lemon, bready malts, sweet, perfectly ripe banana, and a touch of bubble gum. In terms of flavor balance, it’s perhaps a touch too lemony, but given how "big" the malt and wheat components seem to be on the palate, the tart citrus is necessary as the resulting acidity combined with the high carbonation makes this beer refreshing and lively on the palate. Otherwise, the medium body of the wheat and malt base might become heavy and dense on the palate after several sips. The stated 4.2% is rather shocking considering how "big" this beer feels without exhibiting overwhelming sweetness. Really, that’s quite impressive. A thick mud pie of sludgy sediment remains stuck to the bottom of the bottle. Overall, this is a pretty enjoyable wheat beer. Stylistically, it’s too citrusy and the base is a bit heavy, but it all works very nicely and I’ve had no problem downing the entire bomber. Recommended.

bottle from irishboy: pours a cloudy yellow hay colour witha big thick white head. aroma is a nice light wheat with all the qualities of a good hefe clove, banana and touches of the bubblegum. very nice. flavour is a bit sticky an d light in the characteristics form the aroma the clove seems to get lost in a sweet whaeaty malt and the bubblegum does not come thru at all just hints. the beer does finish a little better with some creaminess on the palate. ok hefe but the flavours seem to meld together to much and dont shine seperatley.

A big thanks goes out to riversideAK for this not so local rare brew I received in trade! Big 22 oz bomber. Pour is hazy orange apricot in appearance with some rolling carbonation within. Very nice hefe aroma with a tad of sweetness. First taste is overwehlming weird bubblegum flavor which borders on the impact of malt liquor. The taste of this makes it seem it is a much higher abv than the 4% listed here. Some gunk on the bottom leaves a hypnotizing swirl within the brew. Fuzzy head thru-out the session in my steeler stein. Creamy bubblegum and banana flavors continue. Perhaps a little too much at times, because it feels nearly artificial, but can’t be. Dizzying effect near the end of the bottle. Finish is somewhat strong and medicianl in the banana and bubble gum characteristics. Tinge of lemon rind in the background. No hop bitterness but an interesting linger. This has got to be the most obtuse hefe I ever have tasted. I really like hefe and this certainly exhibits, in the fore front all those trifles. Perhaps a little over the top. Alex, I owe you one for this! Thanks!
