Bomber. Pours mostly clear, a dark and rusty orangish-golden amber color. A dense, spongy layer of eggnog tinted foam is steadfast, settling at a beautifully slow pace. A soapy wash of sheeting meanders its way back into the pool below. The nose is rich and malty, with sufficient toasted elements keeping the sweetness at bay. Notes of toasted caramel, baked sugar cookies, toffee, butterscotch, and tapioca pudding providing an entirely unique malt profile. Faint hints of candied citrus rind and spice are buried deep within, but this one is all about darkly toasted, biscuity sugar variants. Flavors are similar but not as pronounced, the toasted caramel and cookie seemingly enveloping some of the more subtle elements. There is mild bitterness in there for balance, though I’d describe it more as toasty than hoppy. Medium-plus in body, smooth, and lightly syrupy, the mouthfeel is neither offensive or overly impressive. Overall, it’s quite a nice brew.

Bottle. Mahogony beer with a light tan head. Rich malt aroma with light smoke. Toffee flavor with light smoke and light earth. Medium-plus bodied. Rich malt lingers with toffee, light earth, and light smoke.

22oz. My bottle looks noticeably different than the one in the picture, but anyways...beer is a garnet color, clear, with a tan head that turned into a ring and didn’t lace much. Aroma is bananas foster, clove, some roastiness, hazelnuts, and a touch of esters. Mouth is fairly full, but on the flat side. Flavor is roasted malts, mild clove, mild banana, spicy, subdued-dark fruits, hazelnuts, and with a fairly dry finish. It’s pretty tasty. Definitely a lager, easy drinking, fruity, packs a punch...not too bad. A little flat for my liking, and it’s actually pretty rich.

Poured a reddish copper color with a very skimpy off white head. Aroma of caramel, cocoa, nuts, fruit and alcohol. Flavor was a nice blend of flavors. Caramel, fruit, slightly sweet malt, bread, and nuts. Insanely drinkable with a quality palate. Really liked this one.

Scored from DTM’s trip to SoCo. This may be the best Dopplebock I’ve had to date. The flavors of malt, mostly caramel and toffee, came out crisp and full, while not being too sweet. This was very good.

Bottle from Hi-Time Wine in Costa Mesa, Ca. When I bought this beer I was expecting something mediorce, but upon first taste I was blown away. Carmel and sweet malt flavor flowed over my tongue. The palate was impressive. Wish this beer was available in NorCal.

22oz bottle. Dark copper pour with a white head. Sweet nutty malty aroma, maybe caramel as well. Light malty flavor, a little roasty, somewhat sweet. Pretty tasty.
