Commercial Description:
An ode to the Owens Valley and the Highway 395 corridor, this Double IPA is distinctly bolder than out Epic IPA and celebrates the aromas of wild local fresh hops, sage, and juniper.

Looks great but the aroma is a bit funky. The flavor has hops that come out at the end, but overall the flavor is not that good. Great finish, but disappointing body.

Pours a amber, iced tea like color with a quick fading off-white head. aroma is grassy malt, sage, juniper, and pine. flaovr is of juniper, grapefruit, and pine intially with some sage in the finnish. alos some some carmel malt to balance out the hops. has a medium mouthfeel and the alchool is well hidden. overall, this is a very unique and tasty DIPA, defenitly underated.

Bomber purchased at brewery while on a mountain biking trip to Mammoth. Pours a reddish amber color, almost like brewed tea. The half finger of off-white head quickly diminishes. Just as the bottle promises, the nose is full of sage and juniper, much like a Sierra Nevada forest. The sage and juniper dominate, but other aromas include hoppy pine (more on the forest theme) as well as a little bit of citrus. Taste is initially strong on the juniper with the sage more prominent toward the finish. There is some grapefruit in there too, but the wild Sierra sage and juniper are the real story here. A nice malt-hops balance and imperceptible alcohol make this a great IPA and very easy to drink.

Bonus beer shared by Dogbrick at the Sam Adams Beer Lover’s choice tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 7/30/09. Opaque amber pour with a thin off-white head. Grainy malt aroma with some grass, a bit of hops and a lot of herbal influence (oregano mostly, although that isn’t one of the ingredients). Overly herbal flavor with some sweet malt and a semi-bitter finish. Not a bad idea, but overdone on the herbs.

Sample at the Sam Adams beer tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 07/30/09. The beer is a clear orange-copper color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. Stringy lacing. Herbal hops and fruit in the nose. Medium body with flavors of herbs, floral hops and earthy malt. The finish is fruits and herbs with a mild hops aftertaste. Just average overall, and honestly a little disappointing.

Bottle. Pours a deep bubbling copper with a small off white head. Full toasted hop, pineapple, lemon, malt, and juniper to the nose. Flavors have a driving juniper tone with the pine hops riding along. Solid malt backing. Notes of lemon and sage. Mouth is medium to full bodied with a mice mild bitter. A real nice DIPA. A little underrated IMHO.

Bottle thanks to AmEricanbrew. Amber in color with a decent off-white head. Aroma is very spicy with hints of grass, floral, and cat pee. Taste is slightly malty, herbal, and spicy.

Bottle thanks to AmEricanbrew. The semll is peppermint leaves, hops, citrus, spices, and mint. The look is clear, amber in color, not too much of its off white head. The taste is musty, spices, herbal, and mint.
