Commercial Description:
An ode to the Owens Valley and the Highway 395 corridor, this Double IPA is distinctly bolder than out Epic IPA and celebrates the aromas of wild local fresh hops, sage, and juniper.

Bottle. Pours the color of iced tea with a long lasting tan head. The nose is all hops -- pine, citrus, and floral. I like the variety of hop aromas. Lots of hops in the taste bu tnot overly bitter. Juniper and a little bit of Christmas spice. Flavors linger long on the palate. For a 2IPA I would have liked more of a malt backbone but still enjoyed the hops and spiciness nonetheless.

Bottle thanks to AmEricanbrew. Pours with a hazy brown with a ring of head. Aroma is hoppy and spiced with tea, herbal and earthy notes. Taste is hoppy, herbal, a bit catty with sarsaparilla and juniper notes. Light carbonation. Sadly, this one looses points from me as the sage and juniper are overpowering and looses drinkability for me.

Bottle. Copper beer with a dark cream colored head. Grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit and light summer fruti flavor with light caramel backing. Medium bodied. Decent bitterness. Grapefruit and light summer fruit linger. A bit too clean.

22oz. Rich, copper-colored body, clear, and slightly sparkling...topped with a large, fluffy head of beige that leaves behind sticky lace. Mouth is medium and pretty flat with a small zap of coarse carbonation and a wet finish. They aren’t kidding about the juniper and sage. It’s in the aroma and the flavor. Besides the local flora, I smell the hills as you drive south on 395, approaching Topaz lake...oh wait...besides juniper and sage...hm? There’s a definite floral-hoppiness, pine, hop-oil, sugared malts and even a touch of honey. The flavor is pretty similar, starting up front with sugar and sage to finish with a bitter finish of sage and juniper, with some hops along for the ride for some saving-grace-pine on the tail. I keep thinking about eating sage-brush, which is rather unpleasant, but the fact that it’s sage-brush makes drinking the beer a life-like flashback to hiking and the like. Spicy. It’s all right. The flavor is kind of thin, if that makes sense. I’m also not sure how fond I’ll be of eating bushes after I finish the bottle. Creative and cool, but...yea. Maybe they should make a vegetable-herb brew?

22oz bottle courtesy of solomon420. Nice dark orange appearance. It smells almost like a DIPA but then the herbs come in, and nto the good kind. Once I tasted it I felt like someone had lit up a bunch of sage and waved it in my face. This was too strange and not something I look for in a DIPA. It is different though...
