Over ripe fruits, sweetish English malts, a touch of butter and alcohol too. Muddy red brown color with a thin ring and deent lacing. Flavors of toffee, dark fruit, caramel, licorice, and some butterscotch. Medium bubbly carbonation and a hint of alcohol.

22oz bottle. Poured a deeper amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of dark fruitiness, caramel, and toasted nuts. Tastes of caramel and dark fruits. Some alcohol in the finish.

Bomber I bought a ways back at Holiday Wine Cellar. I gotta say its nice to rate this right after Ben. This is an old ale? wtf? Pours almost black with a tan head. Nose is sweet with burnt caramel notes. Taste is sweet with caramel. Overall a tasty beer, nose is less than what I’d like, taste is good, not great but tasty.

Thanks to riversideAK. Dark brown with thin head. Roasted malt, dark fruit, licorice and caramel battle it out with a huge dose of butter that is overwhelming to me. A little would be ok in this, but that’s all I could taste after a few sips.

Courtesy of riversideAK. Pours brown with copper hues and persistent haze. The aroma comes across first as bit hot followed by dark fruity esters that are hidden behind the alcohol but are trying hard to be rich and chewy. A bit of butterscotch is also noticed in the background. The taste starts with fruity esters of prunes and black grapes as well as licorice before some butterscotch notes begin to build up toward midway. Into the finish it gets thick with sweetness along with a wedge of pine hop bitterness.

22. Thanks, RiversideAK! Clear but very dark brown. Dense but very thin tan head. Big buttery nose with a bit of licorice in there as well. Body’s on the high side of medium with woolly carb. Butterscotch, caramel, licorice and even a tiny hint of cherry in there. Mild sweet finish.

A very controlled deep, chocolaty and malty flavor with maybe a hint of oak. Extremely smooth and drinkable for its ABV. More alcohol detected as the beer warms a bit. Would definitely recommend for fans of barleywines and sweeter porters and stouts. (22oz bottle, purchased at Hi Time Wine Cellar in Costa Mesa, CA)
