glkaiser (1150), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 14, 2009 12oz bottle from Mammoth. Butter, butter and more butter. The malt in this one took a bad turn. Moderate bitter hops come through, but the butter ruined it. IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 21, 2009 Bomber from GM Liquors. Nose has a fair amount of caramel with a little grassy and citrus hops. Lightly hazy copper with a medium cream head. Flavor is nuts, caramel, and light bitterness. Plamadude30k (122), Tucson, Arizona, USA Aug 16, 2009 A fairly average American Pale Ale, though it seems a bit heavier on the light citrus, which is most appreciated. The aroma seemed unexpectedly weak, though, which was disappointing. alexanderj (2212), Chino Hills, California, USA Aug 4, 2009 Bottle; poured a pretty clear, orange-amber color; a touch on the darker side. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus, and flowers. Nice, fresh and strong aroma for the style. Flavor did not quite meet the expectations created by the aroma, however it was still solid for the style. Overall it was better than most of the style. iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Apr 23, 2009 12oz bottle, no date. Clean grapefruit, pine and floral hop nose with some faint caramel malts. Clear orange amber witha small creamy off-white head, fading to a thick ring and thin film before long. Flavor pulls back on the floral hops a bit, and the caramel malts are a little sweeter. Must be just a pretty good amount of aroma hops, because the bitterness in the dry finish is only around a 2-3. Creamy medium body with light carbonation. A solid, easy-drinking APA with no obvious flaws. I only bought a bottle, but could fly through quite a few of these on a lazy day--or night. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Mar 23, 2009 Very clear amber with a fleeting head. Nice piney hop, grassy aromas. Smooth medium body. Good floral and pine hop flavors on a lightly sweet pale malt base. Another classic 80’s micro from these guys. KimJohansen (6645), Copenhagen V, Denmark Dec 24, 2008 Clear deep golden with medium off white head. Sweet malty aroma with hints of grassy notes. Sweet malty flavour with hints of hops, toasted malt and caramel notes. Slightly bitter finish. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Aug 11, 2008 18-Jun-08 (12-oz bottle: Purchased 12-May-08 for $1.89 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) This is a pretty basic American pale ale. It’s malty and lightly sweet with grainy, pale malt flavors and a mild huskiness toward the finish. Bitterness is mild and smooth, and the gentle hop flavors are piney and dusty with a hint of weediness. Medium in body and carbonation, but uninteresting on the palate. Medium-golden in color and somewhat hazy in appearance with a half inch of off-white head. Retention is average, the foamy layer fading to a thick ring while leaving some patchy lace on the glass. In general, this is a drinkable pale ale, but mild and somewhat boring because of the lack of crisp, focused hops.
