BückDich (4618), Boise, Idaho, USA Dec 12, 2006 Bottle: Amber color, light head and lacing. Nose of fruity malts and light hops, a bit infected. Caramelly. The flavor is nice and hoppy, but still ho-hum. Moderate body, light sweetness. The finish is grassy, sweet, herby. Eh. beerguy101 (3608), Newark, California, USA Dec 10, 2006 This altbier pours a medium amber color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is malty and sweet, touch of brown sugar and some minerals. A medium to lighter bodied alt. Malts are caramel and sweet. Hops are slightly spicy and earthy. There is a fairly strong mineral presence is this beer. The carbonation is a touch flat, and its perhaps a little thin tasting. But, the malt flavors are good and the mineral flavors are interesting. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. bhensonb (3221), Woodland, California, USA Feb 4, 2008 Bottle as Real McCoy Amber Ale at 4.5%. Aroma of mixed malts. Medium amber color with a finely bubbled beige head. Near medium body with creamy carbonation (it’s bottle conditioned). The flavor is smooth caramel malt, with a light roasted note, and a decent amount of bitter follows. The finish is about the same. Bitter builds a little with time. It seems more towards an ESB than an Alt. Good beer. PorterPounder (2889), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 27, 2002 Had a bit of a barley wine taste to it. Good compliment to the lamb shanks I had at a restaurant at Mono Lake, CA. Rich, amber color.
