Bottle, Barleycorns, Nantwich. Poured a dense black colour with a thin muddy film of head which gradually dissipated. Dark chocolate and cocoa aroma with some malt too. Flavour is something similar but the chocolate didn’t quite shine through enough; drifts into a slightly bitter finish.Teeters on the edge of being really good, but is lacking the x-factor somehow.

Bottle 50cl @ Home.
Clear dark brown color with a large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, grass. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long to average duration, and a dry finsh. Body is medium to light, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (120708)

Courtesy of Fonefan. It’s a black beer with a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and a little alcohol. The flavour has a roasted bitterness, notes of bitter coffee and chocolate, that is the strongest rather late in the flavour, that ends dry and bitter. The flavour is very full and long, considering the only 5,5%. It’s nice, but I had hoped for more chocolate.

Cask, gravity Merton Summer Beer Festival, Thursday July 6th 2006 before the festival started restrospectively added from notes Pours black in colour with small bubbly head that siftyly departs. Nice rich indulgent bitter cocoa powder on the nose along with a touch of yeast. Taste is fruity but chocolate swishes through again, surprisingly this has a nice flurry of bitterness to finish off proceedings.
