BeerBelcher (750), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jun 11, 2007 This beer impressed by being both a pretty tasty beer and fairly different from other tripels I’ve had. The beer is spicy (typical) but this spice is balanced by a citrus sweetness that I found very well balanced. My notes also contain the phrase "the opposite of mellow," which I remember thinking as praise masked as criticism. Combine this with the fine carbonation and smooth mouthfeel that secondary fermentation can provide, and you have yourself a winner.
This beer poured a dark straw color with a very white head. Aroma was a lot of clove combined with some zesty citrus notes. Taste was very clovey with a touch of sour. The remark in my notes "the opposite of mellow" remind me that I thought this beer was "big" but also had potential for those who age beers to become something more complex in time.
A nice beer, and definitely recommended.

Pours an clear orange colour, very well carbonated, with a good size head, didn’t have the proper glass, but the same type so I imagine it won’t make much of a difference.
Can definetly recognize caramel in the scent, but also vaguely some fruits are in the mix, though very hard to detect.
Very strong flavour, with a bit too much alcohol to it. Nonetheless has a good flavour with yet again a dominance of caramel.
Pretty good abbey tripel, but could do with less alcohol flavour to it. DrDavid (351), Johnson, Vermont, USA Oct 5, 2008 (Bottle). Medium-sweet fruit aroma. Clear light copper color, huge off-white foamy head. Flavor is delicious fruits and herbs, medium carbonation, very light finish. This is a powerful beer, but with the alcohol well disguised; caution required! Guinnessman (80), VACAVILLE, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 750 ml bottle. Dark color with strong caramel smell. Heavy malt flavor that finishes smooth. Went great with a slice of pesto brie cheese. afireinside96 (498), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 5, 2008 From a bottle at the KSBF ’08. Hazy dark gold with a small head. Candy dominates but there is a nice maltiness and some light spice as well. Very good. DrSamPHD (17), Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA Oct 1, 2008 Had it off a tap. My taste buds went crazy upon consuming this one. Orange color with a strong taste of alcohol. Not for me but i would recommend it to some of my friends. (Had it at Chimes Bar)
