kimcgolf (700), Dacula, Georgia, USA Jun 1, 2007 Updated: Jul 8, 2007 Pours to a deep amber with a lot of carbonation, creating a thick off-white head that lingers well and leaves good lacing. Initial aroma is floral and dark fruit, with alcohol well hidden. The mouthfeel is tingly from the carbonation, and as the beer warms, it becomes more influenced by the 10% alcohol. Likewise with the flavor, which is a pleasant fruit flavor thru mid-glass, but becomes more dominated by the alcohol toward the end, as does the finish, which also beecomes increasingly sweet at beer’s end.
This was not a bad beer at all, but I would have rated even higher had I stopped at mid-glass, before the alcohol and syrupy sweetness dominated the end.
sersdf (918), chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 2, 2009 draft from hopleaf. thanks bwp116. red copper color. feety and malty aroma. there was another thing i smelled in it but i cant remember what it was. tastes weirdly of juniper and pine cones. awful. ajm (529), Los Angeles, California, USA Jan 1, 2009 Tap at Lucky Baldwins. This tastes Like a Rochefort 9. Yes I said nine on purpose. Thick, raisiny, yeasty, syrupy, sweet, balanced, superb. That this is a tripel is flooring. Wow. Gypsy19 (287), Sacramento County, California, USA Dec 31, 2008 750-milliliter bottle. Pours a cloudy orange-amber with a generous, fluffy head. Aroma has that rotten garbage sweet smell that seems to be common of tripels and dubbels. Flavor is good with dark fruits and apricot and is only slightly bready. Alcohol burn is modest, on par with its 10% ABV. Good overall, but not a world-class performance in my opinion. mikkopen (161), Oulu, Finland Dec 26, 2008 750 ml bottle. Clear orange colour, big off-white head. Fruity aroma, with apples, citrus and a whiff of alcohol. Caramel malts, plenty of fruits, a little yeast and a nicely warming, dry hoppy finish. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and smooth. Rciesla (1578), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Dec 25, 2008 Bottle. Pours an orange amber body with a big off white creamy head. Lots of fruit latent alcohol, citrus, apricots. Finish is dry with a hint of wood. Good brew.
