Draft at brewpub, my version had fermented out to a solid 7.7. Deep brownish burgundy color. Raisiny aroma, but not strong. Belgian yeast notes were faint in the mouth, woven with dark fruits and a good malt body. It was good, but somehow not quite distinctive enough. Perhaps needs a funkier yeast?

Jan 26, 2005 Draft. Brown with a beige head. Roasted malt and spice aroma. Very fruity, malty, spicey, yeasty flavor. Rich and complex. Lingering esters. Medium body and easy to drink.

Mar 9, 2003 Cask at the RAF 2003: Great yeasty aroma, though more like a tripel than a dubbel. . . Dark red brown, not too much spice in the flavour, but fruit and malt are very nice on the palate. Though a strange dubbel a beer I would do again.

Mar 5, 2003 The yeastiness didn't seem to mix with the red fruitiness (plum, grape, raspberry) and made it seem like a jumbled mess. Something was missing.

Mar 3, 2003 Deep dark brown. A kind of medicinal rubber quality. Fairly thin in the palate. Dark, malty, and grapes.
